Carrion Crown Inquisitor-no spoilers please.

Advice

So I recently joined a group about to run through the carrion crown ap.

I'm going in with an inquisitor of iomedae with heirloom weapon (bastard sword). So the first level is already pretty much determined.

Right now however I'm stuck on how I want to consider progressing. On the one hand inquisitor is great for all thosecombat type feats that work off intimidate. On the other hand it's very very difficult to use those feats agaisnt the undead which is what I'm afraid the AP will be filled with.

So, is it feasible for me to go the route of fear and go into Ustalav with a sword of vengeance and terror to those who have forgotten the light of hope that Iomedae brought them? Or are the legions of death so prevalent that my sword should forego fear and go straihgt for blunt force trauma via power attack?

Sources allowed are core and apg.

You could definitely do both. RP him as the sword of vengeance seeking out those that have turned away from the light (I'm thinking the White Cloaks from WoT), and then slay those that refuse to come back to the light. Weapon focus or power attack would be decent choices for your bonus feat. You could also take a level in cleric or paladin and go for the holy vindicator prestige class. Would fit very well with the vengeful sword of Iomedae idea.

Ok, so intimidate won't work on undead. So what? There is NO technique that works on every opponent.

You'll still be effective vs. undead, which is what matters. Searing Light, undead bane weapons, it'll be okay.

I say go with it. Inquisitors are VERY flexible. So, if you're going to be using Intimidate as a will save vs. intelligent opponents, you don't need Command quite so much, which does the same thing.

Replace with something useful vs. undead, like shield of faith, and you're all set. Bonus, shield of faith is good for anything else attacking your armor class too. Also, can be cast on allies.

Can't take weapon focus nor power attack at level 1. Both require a +1 bab.

Right, I knew that. Just too used to playing full BAB characters lately. If you're wanting to go the intimidate route, even if you can't use it on undead, skill focus intimidate wouldn't be a bad choice.

I can't speak for the adventure path contents, but looking at your build, you may want to consider Combat Casting to fill that feat slot. You will most likely eventually want it, and you may as well take it now before you get to where you meet the prerequisites for the good combat feats and start having to make the hard choices

Well consensus seems to state that the intimidate route is fine I jsut need to craft my spells to deal with the dead. Which is in flavor for the character anyway. So let's move on to the build itself. Also decided a bastard sword wasn't worth the effort.

Again it's core and APG so I somewhat have to avoid the really good stuff like the Cornugon Smash Shattered Defenses combo. Not a fighter so I can't take Deadly Stroke. So let's see.

H:Toughness (went with this over improved initiative. My initiative will get higher over time since i'll be two handing said long sword I went with the ability to take more hits.)
1:Intimidating PRowess
3:Power Attack
5:Weapon Focus Longsword
7:Dazzling Display
9:Shatter Defenses
11: Furious Focus
13: Not sure here maybe oen of the "assault" feats? Would work well with shattered defenses.
15:Dreadful Carnage

Teamwork feats will be the typical melee noise. Should always have a flanking buddy between fighter and eidolon.

So, wait, what weapon are you going with? Because as a two-handed specialist you are way better off with something other than the Long Sword. Or Bastard Sword.

As a martial weapon, I'd go Great Sword. As an exotic, well, the Falcata is apparently ridiculous...

Both of which require a feat to burn or require me to go out of flavor for the character. The goddess the character worships has a special significance to the ap's region. It's practically a holy land to him and I want to stick with that. I also like having the option to go sword adn board when necessary. I don't really miss much by going with a lighter weapon here since the majority of my damage comes from other sources.

Not as Heirloom Weapons, which is what I thought you were doing. If not, my bad.

And the Falcata can be used for sword and board as well as a Longsword. You are, of course, quite right that it's not a big deal, just throwing it out there.

If I want weapon focus/dazzlingdisplay in those weapons i have to burn weapon proficiencies sadly.

Just rather unfortunate my roleplaying is getting in the way of mechanical advantage. :P

Personally, I'd switch weapon focus and power attack.

I don't find myself power attacking much at low levels. Doing 10 damage to a goblin isn't any better than doing 8, it's just as dead.

Well I noticed one thing you missed, Inquisitors are skilled at sensing deception and intimidating their foes. An inquisitor receives a morale bonus on all Intimidate and Sense Motive checks equal to 1/2 her inquisitor level (minimum +1).

I would also chande divine favor for Prot Evil. I think it is a more powerfull spell. Every thing else looks good. I think guidance and acid splash or also great lev 0 spells.
