What is our starting wealth?
We'll use average starting gold according to character class. So, 105 gp for a bard.
For everyone's reference, here are the basics for character creation:
-15 point buy
-Average starting gold
-Max hp at first level
-2 traits (one campaign trait, one other)
-Please make sure you indicate a favored class

Some roleplay notes.
Satire: I'm not sure how good I will be at coming up with satirical performances. I'll do my best. If you want to help or offer a suggestion, please tell me in a spoiler.
Lack of Offensive Abilities: Let's face it, a bard is more of a social class than a combat class. Adam is fully aware of this. He might be hiring (one of you) as a guide or bodyguard (or perhaps already is), depending on how far he is going from Port Ice.

While going through the campaign traits, I was having a hard time figuring which one would fit the concept the most. I think Briggand would work, but find it working oddly with Order of the Lion. Would you mind if I changed it to be Order of the Dragon? That seems like it would make more sense if I took Briggand.
Suggestions for other campaign traits are welcome.

Sure, it's not a problem for me if you want to switch up cavalier orders.

Reporting for duty! Sorry, didn't even think to check this yet as I wasn't expecting a decision until tomorrow.
Question about the traits. None of the campaign traits really fit exactly what my character's about, but I feel I've tried to tie her in to the campaign and location as best I could. The Militia Veteran regional trait, however fits perfectly with my background. Can I take that instead of the campaign trait?

Awesome, the gang's all here! :)
Sure, I agree that the Militia Veteran trait would be a good fit. You can sub that as Bea's campaign trait if you want.

Excellent. Bea's stats should be adjusted for 15 point buy, for your approval.

I'm still not certain where we are starting. I know I wrote Port Ice into my character background, but I would like to begin play already knowing one of you. I'm thinking Bea right now, since I would want to hire someone I believe is militarily competent and not likely to run off with any payments for guard service rendered. :)
Also, character changes. I'm going with the Practicality halfling trait. +2 Profession (Gambler), +2 Sense Motive, +2 save vs illusions. instead of fearless and sure-footed

I'd be fine with that. My background gives plenty of reason for her wandering down towards the Stolen Lands, but being your bodyguard would give me a firmer tie-in to the actual job we're doing there, and make sure I end up at the trading post with the charter in hand.
That said, at this point I certainly don't advertise the fact that I'm a paladin (pretty much just converted, for that matter) so as far as you know you're just hiring a bit of muscle who looks like she knows how to take care of herself in a fight.

My plan is to start the adventure in media res as it were, with the party already assembled and chartered to explore the northernmost portion of the Stolen Lands. To begin, the group has set out from the city of Restov in southern Brevoy, and is on the way into the wilds of the Greenbelt. Here is the charter that each PC has been given:
Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.
The group has been advised that Oleg's Trading Post would be a good place to stop off, with the promise of a hot meal, soft bed and fairly priced provisions before heading further south to explore.
With that said, it would certainly be fine if Adam and Bea had arrived in Restov as a package deal. Preexisting connections between PCs are always a good thing.

Speaking of traits, I'm thinking the best fit for my character history is Brigand with the fluff rewritten slightly--he's got the bonuses because of his training in interactions with other River Kingdoms "nobility" (for lack of a better word), and he's got a few gp left over from selling the assassin's dagger. Sound OK to you?

Yep! Sounds great to me John.

OK, with that he's ready to be looked at. One other question: Can he have a few scrolls already written?

Players, I wanted to let you know that my plan is to just eyeball your character sheets, and if they look reasonably correct, I'll give my approval. I used to be the DM who wanted to pore over every sheet with a fine-toothed comb, but I'm trying to loosen up and be a little less of a control freak. :)
That said, if anyone feels that their sheet could benefit from an extra set of eyes giving a close lookover, I (or even one of your fellow players, I'm sure) would be happy to dig into it more thoroughly.
Ultimately, I'm just trying to get into the gaming action as soon as we can. That's a good thing, right?

Workin on typing Jacyn up now.
As Im a half-elf, I get to choose two Favored classes. one is obviously going to be cavalier. Do you want me to select the other one now, or can I do it later, if I ever decide to multiclass into something else appropraite at the time?
Sure, you can wait and decide later. No problem.

Haha, I hadn't really thought of that, but I'll add 10 more gold to my inventory.
I'm ready to go - this is exciting! Looking forward to playing with you all.

John, is there any chance I could talk you into annotating the effects of Retsiji's feats and traits into his character sheet? It would help this absent-minded DM greatly.
Speaking of...I'll really try my best to remember to give Retsiji an action during surprise rounds (re: Forewarned ability), but allow me to apologize now in advance for the times I may forget. :)

Coordinated Defense text added to the sheet.
Just FYI, so people dont have to go looking:
Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you receive a +2 competence bonus to your Combat Maneuver Defense. This bonus increases to +4 if the creature attempting the maneuver is larger than both you and your ally.
Tactician ability allows me to grant that to allies w/in 30ft for 3 rounds/day.

No problem. How's this?
| Havrin Stahl |
(Max, I will mention that there is still a blurb on Havrin's sheet about his stats coming from a 20 point buy. An artifact from a previous build, I'm sure).
Yup! The one thing I forgot to correct! Thanks for catching it; it's all fixed now.
Looking forward to playing in this with everyone!

I realize that Bea may be treading a fine line between lawful and unlawful here, but that goes for much that's happened in her recent past, and she's still trying to figure out how her life's going to work from here on out. So Phoenix, if I start to stray a little too far (for rules purposes) let me know and I'll try to reign her in a bit.
That said, some chastisement from Erastil might be fitting as well in certain circumstances, and could make for interesting roleplay opportunities as a learning experience for her.

Good stuff, Count. I'll keep an eye on her actions, but know that I'm not a super-strict 'alignment enforcer'. So long as she doesn't cross the line too egregiously, you shouldn't have much to worry about.
But I agree with you about the interesting role-play that could come from her ticking off Erastil. We'll see what may come of it. :)
