House rules!
All characters start with a Legend of 3, Legend may not be bought with bonus points.
If a Scion has a single Follower, Creature, or Guide, it has a Legend score equal to the Scion's Legend minus two. If the Scion has two to five Followers, Creatures, or Guides, they each have Legend equal to her Legend score minus three. Scions with more than five Followers, Creatures, and Guides find that those companions have Legend equal to her own Legend score minus four.
Remove Legend from the Dodge DV formula. Die adders do not increase DV.
The Untouchable opponent knack now allows a Scion to spend one Legend whenever they are attacked to add their Epic Dexterity dots to their DV.
Firearms add Perception and Epic Perception to weapon damage.
Knockback and knockdown apply to anything that seems reasonable. The Cat's Grace knack prevents knockdown, but not knockback.

I'm not intimately familiar with the rules of Scion, though I've played lots of Wod (mostly second and third ed vampire), but from what I can make out of the houserules things look good.
Questions about the game...
1. Where are we starting? What country, what state/region?
2. How much do you want our characters to know? I'm assuming with 3 legend we're not totally supprised the first time we fight titanspawn.
3. Obviously no alignments...but what sorts of personality types are you looking to avoid/promote? As in, would a wanted criminal (nothing violent, like a burglar/hacker) be acceptable? How about someone a little more violent, like an armed robber/bank robber (though they try very hard not to kill people, cuz that whole needle in the arm thing doesn't sound pleasent)? Or worst case senario, what about someone who could function in a group setting, but was for all intents and purposes criminally insane (Dexter, the Joker, Hanibal Lectur)?
I have a couple ideas kicking around in my head...but I really need to have some heads up on where we're at and what we're doing first.
The Bunny
You've already received your visitations and birthrights and such ( I love playing out visitations, but I don't think it's good for this format), and you've probably been asked by your Pantheon or allies to go take care of a problem or two before. Personality types... I'm mostly concerned about the group functioning together. Tension within the party is fine, violence within the party should be avoided. Criminally insane types alongside crusaders for Justice should likely be avoided, though either would be fine in the right group.
While their reasons for doing so might vary from altruism/heroism to a sense of duty to just a desire to not have their divine toys taken away, the characters should be willing to go solve problems and fight titanspawn and save the world.

In WOD I have pretty much played werewolves and fae; specifically; glasswalkers and trolls and I have a lot of the old WOD books, but I havent seen the new stuff or know the changes, but I really like the game.
As for characters; I will play anything; dont mind playing a "fill the niche character" I have been playing lot of tank and healer types lately; thought if it was cool; would play a sneaky, spy, rougish type this game, someone with a lot of curiousity and a bright cheerful outlook so any suggestions like that would be cool.
The Bunny
All Companion stuff is fine with the exception of the WWII pantheons. I might be persuaded to allow a Scion from one if you have a really cool idea, but generally I don't like them. Yazata is on the table as well if anyone wants to go that route. Also, the Gods and Purviews from Ragnarok are allowed.
@Valegrim: Cheerful sneaky types abound in Scion, you could easily pull one out of any Pantheon. It's worth noting that Scion is not WoD, either in setting or game mechanics, so not knowing the nWoD stuff isn't a bad thing.
Valegrim
After doing some research; am thinking Aesir Scion of Vidarr, architect type schemer and would like to work in Darkness as a power somehow. Am thinking my character would be very passionate, heightened emotions perhaps but genenerally cheerful tough it might be a facade; thought in his line of expertise; might have been wounded needing medical attention that might tie me in to the medical character; ever see Purple Hearts; sometimes spooks need a doctor...and it would be nice if we could work out knowing quite a few languages like Farsi, Russian; Chinese; French as well as English or something along those lines; thought my guy might be a linguist for hire as these days everyone needs a linguist like doctors offices or police might have a few on call.
I have read a lot of spy type books and stuff; so this seems fun and am a Burn Notice fan; found this and thought to use it as a guide but could use some help. Am thinking Grosse Point Blank, like that movie and his explaination of how he got where he was in life.

As today is my day off, I came up with a character. It has been a while since I played SCION, so if you find anything off, please tell me (And if the concept doesn't fit your idea of the game, I am willing to work up something else.)
Francis Wilburton
Francis Wilburton (38, born in Boston)was a dedicated medical doctor with a knack for medical science and a curiosity for the world.
When he had the chance to get to a job as the medic for a science lab in Antarctica he was right on board.
During this time, a group of scientists had an accident in the field and got hurt badly, Francis, definatly not thinking enough about it, he grabbed his equipment, ran to a snow vehicle and tried to rescue them...on his own...without checking the technical equipment aka radio of the vehicle...
In short, he got lost, he almost died. That was when Osiris approached him. He told him about the responsibilities for a man of his standing his standing (Wilburtons family were the descendants of a british noble family that has been heavily involved wit the british tomb raiding...ah...I mean archeology in egypt)and that, if he were willing to take up that resonsibility (as so often with gods, especially Osiris, that sounded much more convincing and suave when he told it) he could be saved and would be granted certain powers as the scion of his new god and father. Francis agreed and he not only regained some of his life but was also able to locate the scientists he was looking for.
When his Assignment ended, he did his fosterfathers bidding, often as a doctor in politically unstable regions where he helped the needy and helped stabilize the political system by "preaching" to people to accept their standing and instead of trying to change what they are to try to become better and thus improve their lot in life.

@Valegrim: I'm unfamiliar with Burn Notice, but I like the concept. There's an Epic Intelligence knack called Language Mastery that'd let him be the ultimate translator. Especially fitting if he worked in that capacity before getting his divine powers.
@Feytharn: Looks good to me. Only problem I see offhand is that Heku doesn't require a birthright, so you've got an extra point to play with there.
Valegrim
Burn Notice is on USA; you can view old ones for free; is basically a guy kicked out of the cia/military who is dumped in Miami; he has an old Marine army buddy there and his ex IRA girlfriend; they solve crimes and help people, fight the mob and whatnot plus have some callers from their past show up.
I was thinking my guy graduated high school, joined the military; with his scores and flexible morality; became a spook; but either his term ended or he is taking a sabatical or any such story is taking a year or so to reidentify with life and civilian life; might be 25 or 26 ;but has only seen the world since high school through the perception of targets, aquisitions, and numbers. Thought he would have high driving; firearms; larceny; manipulation; that sort of thing. Would look up some of his old high school buddies and see how their doing; work some odd jobs; reidentify with life; if he gets bored; he figures he can always reup or apply with his contacts.
I am reading online what I can about character creation; but dont know much about it yet.

Going to try and set down with the book today or tomarow and get stats worked out, though being that I don't actually own the book, this could be interesting...
As for personality type and background...
I was thinking a practicioner of parkour (NOT a freerunner). So very inner city sprawl type, living in a ghetto, very athletic. Going to go with something of a criminal background, though nothing too crazy. Not exactly Robin Hood, but not a completely heartless bastard.
As for parentage...I'm thinking Kali (my first, last, and only Scion character so far was a Kali Scion)...though when I look at the book I'll see if I can find something more appropriate.
Again, any clue on where this is all taking place? Or is there going to be something to get us up and moving to the right spot, no matter where we start off?

I have a few questions for you. I glanced through so far and didn't see them answered specifically, so just wanted a little clarification.
1.) How is the world in relation to knowing about/accepting Scions and the supernatural? Are scions like superheros, where people might know of them, but they live ordinary lives through secret identities, or are they so rare that public knowledge just doesn't exist? Do Scions generally hide their nature, etc. . .?
2.) Does the Legend trait of 3 come out of our Bonus points, or is it in addition to that? Either way, is it something we can increase through bonus points? (personally, having been in a game with characters with different Legend ratings is a bad idea. Legend itself is powerful and vastly augments the usefullness of a character).
3.) Do we know each other, or of each other? I mean are we skipping the in character introduction? Do we know much about the world/divine?
4.) How serious a game do you want? I was thinking of playing a scion that offers a little bit of comedic relief, in character, but I don't want to ruin your theme if you had one.
The basic idea I had, and this might change with the numer of Aesir already, was a scion of Thior, (actually Odin who lost a bet I am not really sure about and adopted by Thor), who doesn't really understand or fuly believe the whole religious aspect of being a scion. Instead, he kind of relates it to being a sort of superhero, (not really a goody-goody Superman type, but neither a psycho or vigilanty stype either).
He is strong, tough, fast, a little charming, and well liked by females, can out drink anything, keep going for days, and generally has a good heart. But, . . . a little stupid and easy to manipulate/confuse. He has 2 points in Followers, a few female nurses he "lives" with, who are fatebound and a little enamoured with him, and a 3 point Mace (+1 defence to counter it's -1, 1 point for Perviews and 1 point for cool little visual and auditory effects that don't really have game mechanics).

@Feytharn
** spoiler omitted **
You are, of course, right. As I wrote, is has been some time...
I think there are no rules for known languages. The history of my character would make it almost necessary for him to know some African languages and possibly French and German.
The point for the relic will simply enable Francis to channel the animal purview when he purchases points there.
The Bunny
@fraust: Sounds fun. You'll likely be starting off in the U.S., though it'll likely be a fairly globe-trotting game.
@beckett: Supernatural happenings and Scions are not so common yet as to be public knowledge, though with the Titans free strange things have certainly picked up. Most Scions will have had Fatebinding explained during their visitation, it's up to them how public they make their powers but most currently active Scions try to avoid too much attention.
The Legend of 3 does not come out of your bonus points, and Legend cannot be bought with bonus points or XP. Legend will be awarded through deeds ingame, in my experience it just works alot better that way.
Any of you who want can decide you know each other beforehand, if Fate has pulled you together before the game starts all the better. If not, it will shortly do so, so no worries. You can decide how much of the supernatural world you've seen/had explained to you, though the Occult ability will likely be the roll for random knowledge ingame.
And a fairly comedic character is fine, plenty of comic relief in mythology. Especially Thor!
@Tocal: Looks like we have a couple of Doctors, that should make for interesting roleplaying, considering their backgrounds. Fun!
@LackofFocus: Sounds fun, and looks like lots of stuff the group could use.
@Scranford: Either one would fit in. Haven't seen any character sheets yet besides feytharn's, but it looks like both might add some things the group is short on.
@feytharn: Sounds good. And you can just note what languages you know, it's pretty much FX.
scranford
I really want to play in this game, but I won't be home till Friday to peruse my books. I have a couple of cool concepts listed, and another one or two on the back burner, but really can't complete the character till I get back home with my books. Been getting into the hotel late every night.
So save a spot for me!!!!

I found this on the expanded pantheon Wiki list. Would this be acceptable if I make the rockstar scion?
Bragi
aka: Brage, Brego
Description: Rune-tongued Bragi is a son of Odin by an unknown mother, some say he is a Scion of Odin who was raised to godhood. Whoever may question his parentage, none can deny the power of his words. Bragi is the skald, or bard of the Aesir. His lyrics are said to flit about the halls of the gods like butterflies, and the sound of his harp can tame any beast for so long as it hears it. Epic poems are very important to the Aesir, and Bragi is the keeper of the Epics of the gods. On top of his artistic skill, Bragi is a skilled negotiator, who would rather talk away a conflict than to come to blows, amking him a rarity amoung his kindred. However, should negotiations fail, Bragi is not afraid of physical confrontation, no matter what Loki may say.
Whatever role he may play on earth, Bragi is always well-spoken, sympathetic, blameless and always, always in just the right place to cause change. Alan Ginsberg once wrote that if "the mode of the music changes, the walls of the city shake". Bragi knows this well. He has played the humanitarian rock star, the dissident novelist and the revolutionary poet. He is also a bouncer at a high class night club, a techinician at a concert that knows the music better than the musicians and a used instrument salesmen. No matter what role he chooses, he plays it to the best of his ability, to the delight of his frineds and to the horror of the establishment.
Bragi's Scions are much like their father. They are sensitive, artistic and charismatic. They are almost always liked, even if people tend to dismiss them as weak-willed. However, they can be strong and resolute when they have to be, especially when arguing for a cause that they believe in. The music of the children of the Skald god have sounded the funeral dirges for many titanspawn.
Associated powers: Epic Charisma, Epic Fortitude, Epic Manipulation, Guardian, Music, Mystery, Jotunblut
Abilities: Academics, Art, Command, Empathy, Integrity, Melee
Rivals: Loki, Frigg; Apollo, Isis, Sobek, Susano-o, Tlaloc, Baron Samedi

Ok; I just bought a book; found it at Hastings way accross town; so have begun reading it and begun character creation. I bought Scion: Hero; so hope I have the right one.
am solidifiying my idea to:
Calling: Intelligence Operative on sabbatical
Nature: Bravo
Diety: Bastet
I have to rework some skill points and I forgot control - auto's hehe unless we can have a few freebie points for everyman skills like driving and academics as we pretty much all go to school and drive. I put most of my build points into attributes. Also, need to make up some alternate personaes maybe.
Am thinking to take followers and guide; follower as a military buddy who is retired/out and an allied ex Arab terrorist follower who was granted US citizenship for all his help to (me) and the U.S intelliegence services. My guide I am thinking to be my old CIA handler who calls me now and again and slips me some heads up or information or tried to get me to take a mission; might be a good hook for the party and am thinking that a lot of my missions; unknown to me; were against various titanspawn who were always trying to smuggle or set of NBC weapons or cause other trouble.
Also, what starting gear can we have? I dont know how we accumulate stuff or how much cash flow we have; but thought my guy would have very close to what an elite soldier has plus some special gear that is easily obtainable like cell phones; laptops, cameras, lab equipment and a place to live in a more or less low rent district where I could control who comes or goes. Take Kansas city for instance; there are many abandoned buildings so rent is cheap and you can get an entire floor or a house with out much issue.
The Bunny
@LackofFocus: Cool, Mark looks good.
@Valegrim: Characters who didn't grow up in a wealthy country probably didn't go to school or drive. <g> However, you're children of the Gods, and unless you do so yourself for RP purposes you'll never have to worry about mundane things. You roll the dice when you want to do something Epic. Of course, the point of Scion is generally to be trying to do something Epic...
Jasper looks good, the only thing I see offhand is that you don't have a Birthright down for your Sun purview. Also, are the three dots of Follower just for Scott, or is it a unit?
Valegrim
This is my first attempt; not sure what you mean for "birthright down for Sun perview. I just looked at Bast and saw sun and saw this was a 1 point thing and I had one point to spend. Are you asking about an item for it?; if it is an item then I guess it could be contact lenses; give him green cats eyes hehe. Maybe I just dont understand how it worked; thought it would be a nice perk to be able to see in dim light and mists and the like.
As for follower; I am not to sure how that works so the book sent to examples and Elite soldier was on of the three dot ones; in my original concept I had 4pts of followers and was thinking two guys; one elite soldier and one ally like a Farsi woman who was a US operative undercover who relocated to the US after working with me as the Middle East where she was got hot for her to stay. But I am not really sure what 3 dots of follwers does; but no was not thinking of a 5 man unit; just a couple tough human soldier types with different skill sets. The Farsi contact would be maybe a girl I turned through loyalty and manipulation as well as lengthy contact and saving each other; but I leave all that up to you.
@LackofFocus: Cool, Mark looks good.

The Bunny
@Valegrim: Gotcha. Scions need item Birthrights to use their Purviews. One point birthright=access to one Purview. It'd be another point for the one-dot Sun boon, so you'd need to free up another point somewhere. The follower dots are pretty flexible, if it is just one soldier he'd be an extraordinarily skilled and powerful one, but there's nothing wrong with that, would save him from getting eaten immediately if he encounters Titanspawn.
The Bunny
Oh, and starting equipment/resources is whatever fits for your character. Money can be useful to have in the World now and then, but the amount it can help against the kind of problems Scions have is limited. Even if a Scion is rich enough to field a private army, Fate is going to make sure the final battle comes down to him vs. the monster.
Spiro Hawke
Hey guys. I really want to play in this game, but finding the time to finish the character has been a challenge. I'm basically having to re-read the rules as I go (Been a while), and time has been very short. I understand if you have to move on without me. Maybe you could get things started with the more prompt group, then as I get Spiro ready (Hopefully this week) he could join the fray. Just don't want you guys sitting around waiting on me to finish. I know sometimes delay in starting can kill a game.
Also if there is not a lot of mechanical stuff during the introduction portion of the game, I could begin play, then finish up the character later this week.
Valegrim
Here is an idea; could I just leave my character with the current build and have this boon not work; but be like a carrot that Bast is dangling over his head of power to come and then I could buy the Sun purview with exps and maybe some piety to show his taking the carrot and becoming more of a believer?
I will add a gear list to him; as a spy I would think he would have a lot of nick nacks for spying like several spare cell phones, binoculars, few tiny cameras and listening devices, a cell jammer, a muscle car as hp makes a big difference in getaways and fast living of a Bravo, a few storage sheds rented under different alias'; stuff like that all for color. And, typical battle gear like a sniper rifle; assault rifle; couple pistols one for concealed carry and another for bit more firepower, some explosives like claymore, c-4, few grenades and some throwing knifes and a short sword as some thoughts of top of my head; couple lap top computers and some hand held radios.
@Valegrim: Gotcha. Scions need item Birthrights to use their Purviews. One point birthright=access to one Purview. It'd be another point for the one-dot Sun boon, so you'd need to free up another point somewhere. @Valegrim: That'd be fine for not changing math.
We seem to have pretty solid characters, I'll try to get a starting post up tomorrow night if everyone is alright with that. Shouldn't be much mechanical stuff immediately, you're not being dropped straight into a combat and PBPs move at a fairly glacial pace, so should easily be time to polish characters before numbers matter much.
Mark Ryder
Mark loved to ride and to not be trapped in one place this job his dad got him, Let him do that. He was Hermes's son and he was delivering Birthrights to unsuspecting scions who had just meet their parents. Sometimes it might not have been the best job but it did pay well. He didn't mind the problem except that one time he ended up in the hospital from when he tried to deliver a Hammer to a Scion of Thor moody jerk, he hit me with it, I should have kept it but it wasn't what I was paid for. I was a Messenger for God how cool of a job was that.
