Spells with a casting time of up to 1 round can be quickened using Quicken Spell; this includes the summon monster and summon nature's ally series of spells.

There is great table variation (and has been for quite some time) on whether or not 1 round casting time spells are included in quicken or not.

From the SRD:

Quote:
A spell whose casting time is more than 1 full-round action cannot be quickened.

Now is a 1 round casting time more than say a spontaneous caster's metamagic'd spell? Yes, the later resolves during the caster's turn, while the former resolves right before the start of the caster's subsequent turn.

But is the key word 'action' alone rather than '1 full-round action'?

Thus the variation.

To me a 1 round cast spell is more than a 1 full-round action casting time, so spells like enlarge person, dominate person, and summon monster cannot be quickened.

I'm aware of the debate; the language of "1 full-round action" is a holdover from 3.5; its appearance in the language of the metamagic feat is a mistake.
