eh, I think it's mostly about different people enjoying different aspects of the game. I like analyzing the system, fiddling about with the rules, and I get upset over what I see as "bad" or "imbalanced" things as I play.
Some people point these issues out because it bothers them too - if we didn't like the game, honestly we wouldn't care enough to post about it - but I will say sometimes people are combative about it instead of...constructively critical? Or dispassionately analyzing? Anyway, I can get useful information out of those threads, and I tend to leave them if I find myself getting too exercised about the topic under discussions myself.

I think the problem and blessing of our hobby is that it gathers a very diverse group of people. Which unfortunately means we get quite a view different view points.
EDIT: which means we get a group of I am right you are wrong types.:)

It just seems there are more of them lately. They also seem to be less helpful but more critical than before as well.
Or it could I had not paid much attention and now that I am it is just hitting harder than before.

See and I used to get several great ideas from people. Even some good give and take of ideas, which I like. Now, well you can toss out an idea and if your not screaming how horrid X is then no one responds.
Just counterproductive to me.

I give it three-and-a-half tentacles and good chance, finally, of a sequel to the 1982 version bearing John Carpenter's name.
Ffflllleeeessssssssssh.........
Where did you hear these good things? Was it on someone's blog?

I just got news that a close family friend - essentially my second mother from my childhood in Detroit - lost her husband suddenly last night. He was outside mowing the lawn, and gone longer than she thought was normal, so she went looking for him, and found him dead in the yard last night.
He was a good man, a loving husband, a good father and step-father. I only wish I could get back to Michigan to be with them as they say goodbye.
:(
I missed this before. Very sorry, Jess.

Just out of curiosity -- what's "broke" now?
I will still post in that area if I ever have an interpretation question and generally get a response resonably quickly. Just a reminder that not everyone is like that -- but it doesn't take many to ruin things in general either.

I think it is more that as Paizo gets more and more popular there are more and more of those. The price of fame as you might say.

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, Sam and Dean continued their cross-country road trip, unaware that their Uncle Bobby had been forced to turn states-evidence against them and that the police were waiting for their arrival in Oakland. Across town, Jack and Kate took advantage of their alone time to finally finish that cross word puzzle they'd been working on. Meanwhile, Peter and Walter's reconcilliation took a turn for the demented when.....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

It could be done, especially since several of the movements only represent places (catacombs, an old castle). A few of the movements represent very mundane things, but a good GM could work them into something more interesting. "The Gates of Kiev" would demand some particular attention - not sure how I'd do it.

Part 1 - Gnome thieves swarm the country side outside a large castle.
Part 2 - Castle haunted by a fey bardPart 3 - Garden where "swarms" of children attack after being guided to it by their insane fey guardians -- this one could be written by Taig.
Part 4 - Attack of the giant Oxen and their storm Giant guardians.
Part 5 - Demons from an opening in the castle from part 2
Part 6 - confrontation of two dwarves, one vastly wealthy the other very poor, but all may not be what it seems. (ala the prince and the pauper)
Part 7 - Thieves guild attacking the market and Magicians shops
part 8 - tracking the thieves guild through the catacombs
Part 9 - Return of the gnomes and the hut of Baba yaga, she was after a particular magic Item and had the guild of gnomish thieves hunt for it.
part 10 - The heroes gateway, if they can outwit the machinations of baba yaga.

Seriously -- that sucks. Hope it all works out and not too much gets damaged.
Mostly in the kitchen for now, and it seems they have the pipe fixed upstairs, but my kitchen is completely flooded, and my living room carpet is slowly beginning to get soaked.

Yes. ASAP. I just got the school to reimburse me for damaged books and moved the Hell Out as soon as I could. Which, coincidentally, kicked off an unforeseen D&D renaissance of epic proportions. And also some awesome drinking parties.

Was I the only person to think that, in whatever myriad ways SUCKER PUNCH was a hot mess, it was a piece of genius both visually and in terms of perfect mash-ups?
No, I thought so too.
I think the thing that bugged me most about Sucker Punch was how there was no indication of the really tough content in the "real world" and "first level dream world". For women with a history of abuse, walking into that movie without warning of the content...I had a friend that was almost physically ill as it brought back very bad memories, and I had some problems as well.
The fights and battle choreography were gorgeous and fun. But the more I think about the rest of the movie, the more pissed off I get.
In general, if they made a version that just skipped from fight to fight, I'd watch it again and enjoy it. But I won't watch the actual movie ever again.

I contacted the landlord first thing and took pictures of everything including the waterfall coming from the light fixture in the kitchen.

That is soooooooooooooo not a cool image. :(
Hope it's cleaned up for you quickly, with a minimum of fuss and bother!
And thanks everyone for your sympathies with regard to my family friend's husband. I didn't know her husband that well - he was her second husband, she married him well after we'd moved away from Detroit - but I know that they were very good for each other and each other's children.
My mom and brother will be able to make it there for her and her kids, and his son. It's so hard to know what to do that will be a help, but all you can do is your best to be helpful without being intrusive.

Honestly, I was bored. And that wasn't what I was expecting from the movie. I didn't care about the protagonist or the antagonist, and a lot of the cutaways didn't make a whole lot of sense. While part of the movie's point was "what's reality", I found that I didn't care what was or wasn't "real". Visually, I felt it was a little interesting, but overall, I thought it was rather lame. Maybe I'm in the minority, but my wife wasn't impressed with it either.

Yeah. Honestly, I could have done without that. I don't handle abuse of women well -- only slightly better than abuse to children. In such cases, I appreciate warning, some discretion in what is actually shown, and plenty of retributive justice. In this case, not only was it disturbing, but the real world side of the narrative failed to cohere for me.

Agreed. What I liked, and what I cared about, was the imagery and the This Must Surely Be mash-ups. I.e., steam-driven clockwork undead WWI German soldiers? Okay, NOW they're bad guys.
