It’s actually a language learning app. I’m using it to learn Spanish and Japanese. I mean, I could use the help on English while we’re at it, but, eh. It’s quite fun over-all, though sometimes it presupposes I know things that I have to kind of guess at and Japanese is kicking my rear: I only half know what I’m doing half the time.
I honestly can't fathom how your idea would work, and I'm okay without learning.
EDIT: Sigh. Naturally. *puts cloths on*

That's very fair. And also a good name.
It is a... dark show, at best.
I appreciate the depth of the thing, and I like the characterization and setting. I don't think it's for everyone.

there is a swinging business in unique one-time-only dresses, gowns and outfits for these occasions aroundabouts- getting someone to display your stuff, especially if it is not for the hoi polloi, is something to be celebrated. I will never forget the huge wingding when a coworker at the main job got some of their stuff(accoutrements, not a full outfit) worn by someone I had never heard of at the golden globes or something like that.
By recycling/rewearing I think they are actively stepping outside of that business/market by staying with stuff they like or wearing a specific friends work. There has been no small amount of teeth-gnashing on that, but there have also been more pop up fashion events/parties that anyone can walk into, not just the rich and famous.
That was one interesting night on the second job, let me tell you.

I misread this as "Orthos".
Now I want an Orthos of my very own to leave on my counter. I want nice things dammit.

Love Dragonheart!

I've just started season 3. It reminds me a lot of college.
I went to a "great books" school where we had to take four required philosophy courses, and it was Catholic, so all the professors in the other humanities departments did their level best to give their subjects a moral philosophy spin as well.
And it was a rich kid school, so there were SO FREAKING MANY TAHANIS.

Is it sad or good that the aging Wizzie actually thinks the chef shirts/jacket things are kinda stylish? I mean I'd wear it.
Either for the style, or just so everyone would think I was a chef.
Or both. ;)

I also thought of measuring pokemon height in scints.

So, uh, clarification: does The Witcher skip around in time, then?
Seems like.
Yes. Very much so. And they assume their audience is intelligent enough to follow, which is nice, but since they don't make it clear at all, until you realize it there are a lot of, "WTF is going on" moments...

Yeah, I only figured it out sometime around episode four-ish.
I am not sure if there's a time-travel plot via the
... or what, yet, but episode four definitely mostly takes place before many of the other events we've seen.
| Tacticslion |
Hah.
E1: Snow White.
E4: Beauty and the Beast.
I wonder what each episode is?
Obviously they turn each of them on their head - it's a light reference at best. But still, it's fun.
Which references did I miss for E2 and E3?
What's the next Disney movie, Lion King? Wait, crap, the Lion Cub of Cintra...! Oh no, that's the whole movie show
I know it's actually Fairy Tales. I wonder if it sticks to European folk tales or heads to things like 1,001 nights or whatever. Though 1kN seems a little too on-the-nose - a queen threatened with death unless she entertains with stories seems hard to twist about unless it's all secretly a bard scam to get rich quick or something weird like that.

I used to love flying.
One flight during a serious storm killed my love of flying.
Please travel safe, and know that in all likelihood, you will be okay.

Yeah, its not a fright of crashing.
Its usually a lot less severe with shorter flights.Somehow, the hight (and therefore cabin pressure) on intercontinental flights messes with me a lot.
I'm more nervous about the turbulence, and how easily that makes me sick.
Ive done a lot of plane puking before, and I rather not.

E2 is a reference to Polish proverb "where fiend/devil says goodnight" meaning Wisconsin god-forgotten rural nowhere, and possibly some folk tales of interaction with biesy (old pagan fiends, that were later identified with lesser devils).
E3 is about legends of Slavic stshiga (spelling varies depending on reference) and various "save the princess from a curse" - in fact in the short story, Foltest laughs while mentioning that despite the popular gossip he won't reward the hero who breaks the curse with the princess's hand and half the kingdom.
E4 isn't beauty and the beast but is based on a mix of other fairy tales. There is another witcher story that is actually based on Beauty And The Beast (Seed Of Truth), not used in the series (yet).
| Tacticslion |
Heh. Pretty sure the Netflix version, at least, took influence from BatB, even if it's supposedly not direct... it does seem pretty clear, though.
(I totally believe you, for the record - it just feels an awful lot like it.)
I mean, E3 is also about werewolves if we want to go that on-the-nose - I was just looking for a specific story.
