*sigh*

Asking for anything is hard for me.

I should get my friends known that I'd like an extra dice sets for Star Wars and Legend Of Five Rings for my incoming birthday...

But I would have to let them know this, and that is something that I instinctively avoid.

Witcher season 1 was over too quickly, and then I got into The Good Place on the recommendation of a friend, and got all the way through the first three seasons only to discover that the final season isn't available for streaming yet.

It just finished airing on NBC less than a month ago, so that's why.

These conversations are so fun to read.

I own all of the original AP's up to,... <Runs to shelf and looks>
Dangit, I forgot that I re-organized my office! They arent on the shelf anymore,... :P

ANYway, up to the 'Giants' AP I think? And I have only read half of them.
I know READING is not the same as PLAYING (maybe because reading it just seems to make sense? Because the author is explaining what HE/SHE expects the PC's to do?) But they seem to mostly make sense,... of course I KNOW that any plan the author expected will swiftly be trampled by stuff my friends would come up with. :)

I seem to recall that for the first few AP's, it seemed that every 3rd(?) book was a, 'open explore realm-but not really', where there were multiple areas to explore, but if you chose the wrong one, it would be WAY above your level and if you didn't retreat you would die. O_o

Yeah,... If the nice guide says "THAT way lie creatures that will make you into a memory,..." you should PROBABLY listen. ;)

Finished Borderlands 3 tonight:
Have to agree that the ending is just downright bad. Overall, the game plays as if you're the muscle for NPCs who are smarter and better and more powerful than you, so you wonder why the heck you're working for them. And at the very end, the NPC gets to be the hero.

So... SO similar to SO many Pathfinder horror stories about GMs and Mary Sue NPCs the parallels were frightening...

Three and a half hours in on the second patch for this software package. 38%. And my boss called me at 8am today (well, yesterday now) to ask me about gathering evidence for an audit that he knew about 3 weeks ago, but he let it slide until today (yesterday). Of course, that was the day it was all due. And he didn't know why I was still in bed. "Are you sick again?" No, a~~#@%*, I was working until nearly 4:30 in the morning, and you knew about this software patching. You can't get just anyone on the team to do this patching, but you can get anyone else on the team to find tickets and grab relevant screenshots. Call anybody on the team that isn't me.

At 2pm he called me again to ask if I'd gathered that evidence yet.

If he calls me at 8am again today I'll visit with LM on my way to a murder spree.

And now the upgrade patch has failed. I'm very happy. So very happy.

Sleep? I've seen some sleep. Just not multiple hours in a row. Not since 2-6:30am Wednesday morning. That seems so long ago now.

Sure!

I'll take you over to Clyde Barrow's grave to remind you how all that is likely to end.

Then I plan to distract you with food, and drink, so you forget about the murder spree.

So much of Netflix is "Netflix original content" (unless it's old) now that I'm kinda stunned when I see something that started out on a network.

I've been working with the software's tech support for the last 4 hours.

The cats have started begging for breakfast, like I'm running some sort of hotel around here or something.

This is ultimately going to lead to a migraine. Also a good possibility of smelling colors and hearing light.

The good news is that nobody can submit tickets to IT right now, since that's the borked upgrade and we're having to completely reinstall the older version and restore the database.

There's a smile on my face, but I can't figure out why.

You gotta love it when you think you've lost something and after hours of fruitless searching you give up and then find it in your underpants.

A candidate WW supports is speaking here in Mesquite tonight, so WW wants to go after we get the kids in bed tonight. I think there's no way, because they open the doors to start the security screening at 6, and then the rally goes from 8 until 10, so by the time we get there, we would be just in time to hear the final bit of hoarse shouting.

And I really wanted to go to the good ice cream place instead.

Also, I like Kate McKinnon better.

Couldn't be worse than the alternatives.

Most years, I would rather vote for someone in a persistent vegetative state than the choices available.

I'd run for office but I don't want to.

7 people marked this as a favorite.

LOL. I'd love to run for office, but I'm busy raising two kids and trying to restore my house to order after inheriting 50 years' worth of other people's stuff.

People keep asking, "When are you going to run?", and my answer is, "After the kids move out."

It'll be a very simple platform:
(1) I will never mention another candidate nor their position; I will simply state my position and why I believe in it.
(2) I will never meet with lobbyists, join a political party, nor have a Political Action Committee.

So, I'm pretty much guaranteed to lose, but could be entertaining to run.

It's really just much, MUCH faster, and easier on the sanity, if I just send you my very special, patent-pending, 'Computer Adjustment Tool'.

Do not be confused by the fact that it very closely resembles a sledgehammer. It is a completely different device. Which is why I usually charge so much for it.
But for YOU, and your pending headache/murder-hobo-spree, I will let you borrow it free of charge! ;P

So, this is AC Transit (our local bus) in a nutshell:

GothBard got on her bus as usual, and after about a mile it just stopped. No announcements, nothing. The bus driver just sat there. For TWENTY MINUTES.

So she got up and asked the bus driver what was going on. "Oh, a car backed into us. I have to wait for the police and fill out a report. I can't move until all that's taken care of."

"So I should what? Wait for this to get fixed? Wait for the next bus? Any advice here?"

"Oh, I'm not going to be moving for quite a while. So yeah, you should probably take the next bus."

In other words, the driver knew that his bus was down for the next couple of hours, and didn't even bother to tell his passengers so they were just sitting on the bus waiting for something to happen, and it wasn't until GothBard actively told everyone what was going on that they got off and started seeking other transportation.

And this is absolutely typical behavior: We will NEVER actively provide you with any information whatsoever; you have to seek it out on your own.

Yeah, she's sending them a nasty letter and demanding her money back for this morning's non-commute.

Actually gran is the closest that I'm aware of. He's only about an hour and 15 minute drive from me.

After that... probably Cap.

It's ok if neither of them wear the milkmaid costume.

Scint is also closer than LM.

Come to think of it, so is Orthos.

Borderlands 2 had us been doing mostly the muscle and legwork for NPCs too, but at least they were wonderfully flawed, fallible, mislead, wrong, and funny.

All the while being accompanied by Handsome Jack's insane rambling, egocentric announcement and overall comedic sociopathy and sociopathic comedy of the mad-mad world we came to live in.

Pre-Sequel, despite its less than stellar level design, gave us even greater insight into Jack's raise to power and descent into madness while losing what decency he still had... And the PCs themselves showed more of their personalities. Well, at least more comparing to previous games.

EDIT: Jade Regent still takes the absolute out-and-out cake in that regard. I forget which book it is, but their guide tells them they can take one of three paths. If they choose the wrong one, they are horribly punished and have to go back to the starting point. Needless to say, my group chose BOTH "wrong" paths first. I nearly lost them and had to cancel the AP at that point, but I convinced them the next book was better. So this must have been Book 3, because Books 4-5 rocked.

It is so weird hearing "Monty Hall" (or reading it) and not having it be about GMs complaining about others' games.

(But I love Brooklyn99, and am totally feeling snacky, so.)

((I wish I had easy access to more than season one and a handful of Season 2.))

EDIT: for accuracy, then to note that I edited.

In London, more precisely, a part of London with pretty much nothing in it bar Turkish supermarkets.

That isn't a problem in itself, but it does mean that there's very little to do of an evening bar sit in one's hotel room, drink beer, and play Baldurs Gate 2 on the tablet. Again, not a problem in itself. The two pubs I've seen have looked proper dodgy, and I'm not going anywhere near them.

It's the English Sidesword Open tomorrow. I'm in the sword & dagger tournament (as well as the sword & shield on Sunday), and I am not going to have an easy time of it at all.
