I am meh about that idea. While being doored is no fun, neither is the extra traffic from having a cordoned off lane. I love safety, but we all need to get where we are going.
Pittsburgh has similar bike lane barricades. Many have been run over by cars making their turns too sharply.
right/left hooks are no joke.

*Stays dressed* No, they aren't. There's a lot of memorials in the region.

Adulting today: I threw out some old boxes with trash useless stuff that that stood on a wardrobe for the last eight (or more) years.

Some more things will end in the trash later.

There's a microwave, but CoGo's doesn't have much in the way of dresh vegetables. There's a 24-hour supermarket along the way, but I'd be late if I stopped there.

No I mean on your days off you cook a whole lot of vegetables and package it up. I'm certainly doing that now.

The nice part of living in America's Bread Basket is veggies are plentiful and fairly inexpensive.

So we try to eat our veggies fresh.

I finally got a wooden rolling pin, which used to be impossible to find on our side of town, but I guess the hipsters got sick of their stone pins.

We still have another five weeks.

In other news, my sister finally decided to donate her Chaotic Evil Macaw to an exotic bird sanctuary, after over twenty years of the rest of us loathing the horrid creature. She was worried about her daughter's safety around it, with good reason. (Busy toddler with no safety awareness meets malign entity from the pit of hell, what could go wrong?) But she loves this damned bird, I have no idea why, because it's like loving the Skeksis Chamberlain in The Dark Crystal.

So she's sad.

Crookshanks is getting fitted for her cheerleading outfit.

Of course, for Crookshanks, trying on, getting fitted for, or anything to do with clothes shopping is seen as the worst kind of torture only to be tolerated if acrobatics are the reward.

No idea where she gets that from.

Sometimes, worker laziness can be useful!

As expected, the sewer workers didn't pick up their No Parking signs from in front of my house today. My solar guys are coming on Wednesday to finish up the job. I'm hoping the signs stay there for two more days and people actually believe them...

My colleague asked me on the Shape run 2019. She's going for the 5km. Should I do 5 km or 10 km? I can do 10 km though I'm certainly more accustomed to 5 km runs. Timing would be better definitely, 10 km I think I would need to step up my run training so I don't embarrass myself on the day.

In less good news, I have officially dropped out of a Pathfinder game. There are various reasons why, but basically they all add up to this: I used to think "Goody! I get to game tonight!", but the last two months or so have been "Crap. I have to game tonight." Not an easy decision as I really like some of the people in the group and don't want to let them down, but I just can't keep it up for now. The GM has said that I'm always welcome back if/when I feel like it, so that's good. But it still sucks to drop out like this.

Yeah RL bites all of us in the @ss. Or we get other interests(in my case) that pull us away from RPGs. For me it was more of a well, you can sort of perform(yeah watered down versions) of crazy stuff in RL, so why don't you train yourself to do that instead?

Remind me to go shop for a new pair of running shoes. My current to go shoes are getting holey. But gosh are they expensive ><

I've got a spare pair of shoes but my timings are 1-2 minutes slower or so.

Again unless I want them falling apart on race day... I really should get to it.

Also another thing that's a downer is that for all the effort you put in to describe the scene, players are only interested in rolling dice to kill things and don't post for anything else.

And they're willing to spend time arguing rules minutiae of which some of it is grey area and conveniently do not bother to learn rules that adversely affect their characters, but are eager to point out any slightest thing that gives them an advantage. Look, I've got better things to do in my life then look up rulebooks at near midnight. And if I don't do it, I feel guilty for not doing it and pushing things along(since it's part of GM duties), and if I do it, I get grumpy having to do it because it generally leaves irritated feelings around(the player not getting what they want) and me as the GM begrudging the time I take to find arguments to state why the rules are that way.

The Exchange

I know I may not be the best cat for heavy RP, but at least I did give some kind of explanation. I feel that NPCs are the GMs property so I rather not dictate what they should do, but rather try to help them(if what they're doing isn't wrong or harming themselves or others), in what they want to do.

I also have my parents telling me what to do and I don't like it(since what I was doing wasn't wrong in the first place-yet they treat it like a criminal offense), so I try not to force my way of doing things onto others too much, even in RPGs. Do onto others what you want done onto you, after all.

The Exchange

And I think preparing lunch and dinner for 4 days cost me around $20,while eating out for a single meal would cost me around $5 minimum. So preparing your own food =half cost.

Bleh. That's always a pain. Happened to me last month, took them only a month to replace her though, which was surprisingly fast for them. Hope the replacement process doesn't take too long!

The thing is I told her a few weeks ago this was going to happen and she said I was worrying too much. (Out of sight, out of mind type of thinking). Guess who turned out to be right?

And people say I'm a worry wart when I prepare for the worst.

At least on the bright side, the handover process is taking place tomorrow, rather then not happening at all and having everyone chase after a clueless me after she leaves.

Chain her to her desk so she can't leave until she trains her replacement.

Weekend will be awesome, I'm going to the farmers market!

I'd love to see what fresh produce they have for sale. Though I suspect the vegetables may be more expensive then buying it at the supermarket.

Are the farmers for sale, or can you only rent them?

So here's an interesting question for FaWtLers: Has anyone else had to deal with the U.S. Postal Service claiming to have delivered a package that they didn't?

GothBard's late birthday present is listed as having been delivered yesterday at 7:34 pm. We had 4 people in the living room at that time who can all confirm that it didn't happen. In fact, we got no mail at all yesterday. So I have to lodge a complaint with the USPS.

Has anyone done it? Is there any point to it if the mail carrier claims they delivered it?

We have had to file the complaint twice, but nothing came of either incident.

Not with the U.S Postal service, but several others. A few times it ended up with a neighbor.

Given their shared developer and lack of my knowledge of any other games in their legacy, I'm going to guess Golden Sun.

I no longer have things delivered to my mothers house because the post officer assigned to the route was not a very good person. They routinely threw mail onto the second floor balcony, and there are things I was expecting that I never, ever recieved. It is suspected, though not proven, that that letter carrier or another associated with the route stole them. Another person at that office regularly delivered mail from her car's trunk, which was full of mail bags. No idea if she was fired or not.

Ugh... Don't remind me...

Spoiler:
I am currently doing a bit of customer service dealing with packages of a successful kickstarter campaign... Well, it's not that bad, for some 3 thousand packages there are a few that weren't delivered but customers tend to be rather loud about not receiving them - not that I blame them, if I spend 50-150 (postage included) to get a game, I would want to get what I paid for. Recently there was a case when the customer complained that he still hadn't received his game after a few month so we sent him another one. A month later he contacted us saying he received two of them... Yeah. Though he had decency of offering to return one.

Western Australia and Canada seem to be the worst, though, when it comes to number of undelivered shipments.

Once. It got apparently mis-scanned, and when I showed up with the tracking number, they were easily able to find it for me.

So now we have a second course where we need to exploit security weaknesses in Internet Explorer to get the course to run properly on the isolated classroom machines.

I am both impressed at just how fundamentally bad Microsoft is at security (cross-domain requests have been blocked in Chrome and Firefox for YEARS, but IE 11 still allowed them because Microsoft), and happy that they are, because it lets me run my practices.

*AND* take a jab at Microsoft. "In this lab you'll be using Internet Explorer because it's the only browser insecure enough to allow this lab to run."

Well, that's heartening; my BIG concern is that we got NO mail yesterday, making an, "It's late. I'm tired. This stuff can all go in the dumpster," approach to mail delivery far more likely...

Even Microsoft's own people have said that nobody should be using IE except as a legacy integration tool. It shouldn't be considered a browser anymore.

EDIT: I had a subject-verb agreement snafu that I just noticed and it bugged me.

Microsoft is also about to release a new version of Edge that uses the Chromium engine - it's basically a reskinned Chrome, and will probably have a couple different MS-specific features that may or may not work well for their intended purpose, and certainly won't work well for the purpose that everybody decides they want to use it for.

Because that's how IT works no matter what company you look at.

We routinely see packages marked delivered when the packages have not been delivered, only to have the packages show up on Thursday.

The carriers seem to collect all packages for our address and deliver them as a batch once a week (namely on Thursday).

I am guessing that they mark the package delivered when it hits the mail truck to satisfy metrics, but do the batch delivery so that they only have to walk to the house 1/week. It is not like the driveway is all that long, but it is not just leaning out of the truck.
