I was even more surprised when she said how much she liked it, because she hates anything sad (she says life has enough misery on its own, she doesn't need it from her entertainment).
Turns out she DID NOT GET that everyone died. She thought that the big blast of light at the end with Jyn and Cassian on the beach was just a fancy editing transition and they lived happily ever after.
Y'know to foment anarchy again.

If for whatever reason she can ever make it thru Pan's Labyrinth, I'd be curious what she thinks of the ending.

Yeah, neither she nor I will ever watch that one. Neither of us can stomach dead kid movies.

Yep. Today's a complete joke. I've completely given up on even taking hall passes seriously - I've written two with "world domination" as the reason on them. No one's said anything.
Wait...you actually have to write hall passes? When I was in high school the teachers would just hand over some random knickknack for you to carry around.
Pretty sure their schools are much larger than the ones you and I attended...
Bigger than homeschool, sure, but our graduating class last year was about 45. We're not a large school.

Still larger than my schools. While I was home schooled, I wasn’t exclusively homeschooled. The graduating class is about double the size of mine - which was one of two of the lar fest schools I can remember attending prior to college.

(I attended various schools - about three, due to moving - prior to the early 90s; then for most of the 90s I was home schooled, or briefly attended (for a few-month increments) whatever school was nearby (we were missionaries). In ‘98-‘00 I attended an actual Highschool, from which I graduated. Just in case you guys wanted to know waaaayyyyyy too much.)

Man, waking up with a clogged head feels weeiiiirrrrd.

Requisite Holiday Rant About Family:
I'll just list the facts and be off then:
  • My family asked me to send the kids' Christmas lists to them. So they actively wanted to give them presents, and they actively wanted to choose presents that the kids would like.
  • I am the poorest member of my family.
  • When ordering anything from Amazon, there is a little checkbox that says, "This is a gift". If you select that checkbox, you can write a little card to get delivered with the present, and you can even spend $3 for "wrapping" (a colored bag). I always select this checkbox and get the stupid bag.

  • So today we got our fourth unmarked package from Amazon. Addressed to me, with no gift card, no wrapping, nothing to indicate it was a gift nor whom it came from. But it was another item from one of the kids' Christmas lists, so I know it came from ONE of my family members. Who knows which one?

My absolute favorite so far was a package addressed to Impus Minor from a company we didn't recognize. He does online shopping, so we figured it was something he'd ordered. Nope! It was one of his presents, unwrapped, with no gift card.

So he knows what at least one of his presents is, even if he has no idea who actually gave it to him.

My family. Taking gift-giving to a new degree of laziness since 2007.

So, wait, I call SpongeBob SquarePants a national treasure and you're out, but yet didn't leave when [redacted] was [redacted].

    You sure about that?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to provide perspective on a rather dramatic statement. Don't get me wrong I HATE Firefly but I'm not leaving the country over it.

My guess is because it's funnier to make a bigger deal out of something as inconsequential as a cartoon being popular than it is a heavy political issue beyond the control of the average citizen.

Bleak reflection on current events is sad.
Exaggerated overreaction to pop cultural ephemera is silly.

Fair enough, I guess it came out sounding stronger than it did in my head.

I don't know. I can no longer mute tabs. I can mute a site, and I can mute things other ways, but I can't mute individual tabs (clicking the little speaker does nothing). It might be an error on my end somehow (possible; either on my part or my machines), but considering Chrome previously took away the right-click option to mute tabs (replacing it with the frustrating and nearly-worthless-for-me option to mute a site), there really isn't a reason to stick with Chrome.

So far, being on vacation seems mostly pointless and weird.
Yesterday, I balanced the books, worked on the 30-day budget, cleaned out the stopped tub drain, scrubbed every inch of the bathroom, did all the floors, beat the rugs outside in the yard, took out the trash, cleaned the house, and made dinner for the in-laws, then stayed up late cleaning after WW and the kids crashed.
Today, I repaired the wonky kitchen cabinet door, baked two dozen muffins for the monthly breakfast that my church serves at the shelter, dropped by the church to stash them in the freezer until they're needed on the 30th, did a bunch of laundry, and set up the mail hold with the postal service.
And I feel so effing depressed I just want to crawl into a hole and cry.
    For absolutely no reason whatsoever.
    I feel completely useless.
(When I'm depressed, I alternate between staring at the wall and frenzy of purposeful activity to prove I'm not actually a waste of carbon. Neither helps.)
