Ooh! Ooh! Slang I don't understand!

What the heck does it mean to "catch a catfish" on a dating site?

EDIT: And should you be naked when doing it?

More or less, yes.

Honestly, with everything that was going on, the hardest part for me was having Paizo continually going offline while I was feeling overwhelmed and isolated with all this stuff and needed other people to feel vaguely normal and human.
So Freehold being Freehold texted often enough that I didn't feel so bad.
(Yes, I know that NH loves me, but he's like Danny Trejo; NH don't text.)

Danny Trejo opened a donut shop. I loves me some Danny Trejo.

And what's a text?

To catfish is to send a picture of someone else and pretend it is you.

Jerk thing to do.

As old as the internet, but for some reason people act like it just started a few years ago.

Lol. It’s not so bad! I’m really fast at thumb typing, which for some reason weirds out my husband. He uses voice to text pretty much exclusively (and often obnoxiously...don’t susdenly start taking to your phone in the middle of a conversation with someone right in front of you without at least saying something to them first to let them know! Sheesh. You’d think that would be common sense...). Meanwhile, I often have to type things on my phone when I can’t talk, so of course I just keep getting faster and faster at the typing. :)

Always nice to flag a thread at 6 in the morning and see it gone within 3 hours.

People were having fun with it, but it really needed to go.

Ah, I love building DM paranoia.

One of the Rainbow is my TA, so I was dealing with the usual "subtle" interrogations to gain hints about the game. You'd think they'd figure out that I use these obvious overtures to throw red herrings at them for my own amusement by now, but not yet! There's now some great second-guessing of everything they've learned from Happs and the Levetons, and all it took from me was "Well, you've already found a hint. Hope you remember it!"

Well, I'm glad you're back even if things aren't exactly rosy.
Really hope you'd gotten a better handle of Kiddo's problems, but from the sound of it there's still quite a lot of work/treatment/healing ahead…
Also sorry to hear about you're own difficulties. Being "you" when you're neuro-atypical is draining. The constant reminder of your inherent difference, and that often we were taught to behave "normal" (instead of "natural" for us) has too often made anxious, twitchy and prickly people out of many of us.
But if you feel like talking about your problems, the Kiddo's, have a rant or just have a pleasant talk, I'm here to listen Lyn.

*Hugs Lyn, and sends more hugs for her to pass on to the rest of the family*

Silly Things that Tickle NobodysHome:

Our housecleaner is Guatemalan by birth, I believe, but her English is near-perfect. However, on rare occasions she finds herself at a loss for the English term for something, or uses a phrase that just isn't used in English.

My favorite is that apparently "cold" is "fresh" in the Guatemalan idiom.

So it's 58° F and cloudy, I have all the windows open, and I can look forward to her coming in later today and having her say, "Oh, Mr. Nobody! It's so fresh in here!"

I find it utterly delightful, so I've never once dared mention that it's not a proper U.S. English translation.

And hey, back in the 1980s my German instructor went around Germany talking about how "heiße" he was, not realizing he was proudly declaring his homosexuality to the world.

What IS it about prescription companies and robocalls to remind you to renew your prescriptions?

Oh, yeah. Money.

But what does it say that both CVS and Express Scripts called SO often with incorrect calls, and provided NO way to stop them, that they're now both on my "blocked callers" list.

Yeah, when you have to block calls from the companies that fill your prescriptions, you know something's screwy about the way they do business.

So, I have a couple wood-cut owls that I painted to be hall passes. After a year or so of use, they're getting pretty banged up, and one of my homeroom kids offered to repaint them. So far, one of them is done, and the eyes are much larger than before. I think it's cute, but this has freaked out many of the kids.

"Miss, can I use the bathroom?"
"Yeah, take the pass."
"Oka-" stares at pass
"Everything okay, [student]?"
"...it's staring into my soul." grabs other pass and hurries out

Makes me wonder if the other one's going to have even bigger eyes. No one will use the bathroom in my class again at this rate. >_>

Um...it has been. And yeah, I've been to Florida a few times. You get sunburned faster in Florida, and that's about the only difference in the summer. In fact, last time I went to Florida in the summer it was to cool off.

Urban Dictionary. Really useful site, that. Answers all those "what is a" questions. Just sayin', for those askin' about slang.

Yeah but you deal with that for...what, two weeks? We have maybe two weeks a year without it.

Huh, funny, there is a similar expression in Polish: rześki (rz is read like French j, ś is a very soft sh sound), which means "energetic, rested, refreshed" and can be used when referring to cool but pleasant weather or a blow of fresh cold air on a hot day (rześki wiaterek = cooling wind).

Um, no. We went from the coldest April on record for Illinois to the second hottest May on record. We've been in low-upper 90's and high humidity for the 5th month in a row. Last year we were still hitting 94 in late September.

Sure, it's going to end sooner and start later than Florida, but that's only because we also have to deal with an actual winter (let alone what Iowa/Wisconsin/Minnesota get), which you conveniently skip for temps in the 60's-70's. Then again, if a Florida motorist sees 4 snowflakes they're going to cause a 47 car pileup, so I'm probably still safer in the frozen north.
