I wish I could play the piano. It's such a beautiful instrument. Also, I've been working on some key NPCs for Mystralas with the time I have.
One nation's leader would be sort of like a female version of William the Conqueror, while another is based off Louis XIV of France aka the Sun King.
And yeah, I feel better from earlier at the moment. Still kind of nervous about entering open university, but that's kind of expected in a situation like this.

I got an idea for a city (though it's not officially recognized as one) that's basically a huge landfill where the rejects and outcasts of multiple nations have huddled up among the wastes, making it kind of a less successful Kaer Maga. I blame both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls for this idea, but I figured my campaign world did need a place for Ratfolk, Otyughs and Mongrelfolk, not to mention a place where you can't really know what happens next considering the diversity of the populace. They've adapted to living there, but don't usually take kindly to visitors aside from the rare merchants who dare to enter the place.

Sounds to me like the kind of place where the active malevolence/benevolence to be Evil/Good is mostly drowned out by apathy. They probably don't much care about anyone outside their borders in a general sense, and even those within they only really give any decent attention to close friends and family, if that.

Yeah, I'd say that applies to most of the populace better than what I had said earlier.
An exception would be the Mongrelfolk who worship Meriadar that probably keep the community from collapsing.
Then again, I might just create an altruistic deity of a similar nature that watches over the poor and the outcast of the world.

Heheh, I bet some outcast kobolds and dwarves could have collaborated that burrow design you mentioned. And I just got a cruel twist of sorts to that deity and the situation. I am pretty sure at least some of his/her clerics probably despair over those they fail to save (sometimes it happens after all), a few probably going as far as to blame the deity for not using their godly powers to help even though the gods prefer not to meddle too much in mortal business on a personal level. It might be a good idea to make this deity a lesser god rather than a greater so that argument holds more water, though.
Then again, the people who live in the trash heap might be so used to losing loved ones the clerics just stoically move on to the next person they can help.

And it well and truly is a much happier day! I found the books I had been looking for! Turns out I put them in an empty diaper box and sealed it up again without labeling it. So whilst unpacking I thought it was actually diapers and put it in the closet of the room where I keep the changing table.
at least you didn't pamper your kid with lotr. I have at least one friend who would buy a copy just to do that with it.

Icyshadow wrote:Damn it, coming up with city and nation names is tedious...Yes. Last year I painted a map of my husband's homebrew world that he's been working on since he was ten. Even with all that work there were still huge sections of the map that were blank and he basically told me that it was up to me to name them, countries, cities, and large geographic features like mountains and lakes....which was fun for a while and then I ran out of names while I still had a whole lot of map left. This site was an invaluable help in coming up with enough names to fill in the rest of the blank spots. :)
Sadly enough, the link is broken...

I also saw the movie, on the advice of FAWTLs and some friends from my Japan days. Agreed. If you at all enjoy kaiju films or gundam/evangelion/mecha anime, you must see this movie. WHEE!
Also, totally worth seeing on the big screen, as opposed to TV later. :)
The kidlet and I saw it on the big screen three times and he was lobbying for a fourth, but I already feel too guilty about the expense of seeing it three times....but I thought about it. :)
