I've always had women at my table. Even though my roleplaying group started as men-only (after all, we were all classmates at a Catholic school, so it was all men), soon after girls started joining for one reason or another. Of my broader group of roleplayers (the 20-30 people I interact with for nerd stuff on a regular basis but that are not part of my usual group), about 25% are women.
Then again, I always make it my mission to turn my friend's girlfriends into roleplayers in one way or another. Two saturdays ago, for instance, one of my players presented us his new girlfriend, and we quickly got her playing a Ranger. Now she's asking to play again.
As I always say, for each person I turn into a roleplayer, Saint Peter moves me one spot forward on the list.
woot!!!

Anyway, count me in the "no drugs, no sloppy drunk" club. I pretty much cap any event or night out at two drinks.

This weekend John and I went to my sister's house in Connecticut. It was a really nice time. Her kids (5, 6, and 8) just discovered Star Wars. They spent most of the weekend running around with light sabres traking to poke each others' eyes out. And the family dog was always on the side of the Sith, poor girl.
lol!!!!!

Ooh, last night's dinner was chicken cordon bleu.
And I was in the mood for brussels sprouts, and John said, "I've been craving pineapple. Would pineapple be good on brussels sprouts?" I decided it was a worthy experiment, and thus a new recipe for brussels sprouts was born.
as most germans do, I love brussel sprouts and I do like pineapple, the combination sounds mmmmm, well, let's call it interesting

I'm sorry to hear that.
If you all enjoy them, I'm happy for you.
But I strongly maintain that while brussel sprouts may or may not be the source of all evil,... they are most certainly not food! ;P
At least, not in my house,.... ;P
Have you ever had well-prepared brussels sprouts? I hated them until I ate them cooked by somebody who knew what they were doing.

slightly roast with onions and bacon, deglazed with white wine, add vegetable stock and cook a bit, make a sauce out of the liquid

Obviously not. Because every time I've tried them, they were pretty bleecch. ;P

See? THAT sounds good! I like the sound of everything you mentioned.
Except for, you know, the brussel sprouts,... ;P

Brussel sprouts aren't the source of all evil - anchovy is.
As someone who is deathly allergic to fish I heartily concur. Why? Why must they sneak these awful things into so many italian sauces? I have to read every spaghetti sauce label before I can buy and eating out is taking my life into my hands. :/

In other news, breaking the fourth wall is not good when you're trying to build tension.
"And get her some proper clothes to wear," he ordered. "Something modest, mind. She'll make a good bait for her all-too-bothersome poet-lover, but I'm not going to behave like the moustache-twirling villains in those dreadful plays she performs in."

Precisely!
I also have a recipe for maple-glazed brussels sprouts, which is a decided North American take on them. As a result, I knew adding a bit of sweetness would work.

Argh, sorry for pestering you guys.
Lizarfolk alternate racial stats, or just all-new lizardfolk races?
Alternate stats. Here is why:
If you go with a new race, it goes like this:
"Hey, it's a new race... Huh, it seems a lot like a lizardfolk. Why did this guy rip off the lizardfolk?"
If you got with a variant for your campaign setting, it goes like this:
"Hey, they made some changes to the lizardfolk race for this setting. That's pretty cool."

Its been a good day.
New PCs are getting introduced into my PBP today. CH won't have to carry the load all by himself any longer.
In discussions on a potential job. We will see if we can agree on terms. Upside, chance to get in on the ground floor of a new collection of companies. Downside, will mean living out of a hotel for awhile and a probable move north to Dallas.
Not that there is anything wrong with Dallas, its just that I really like it here in Houston.
If I do take this job, it's 3.5 hours away so I will be coming home every weekend and I will be able to finish up my RotRL campaign.

Actually, it can be any combination of carrots, brussels sprouts, parsnips, and turnips.
Cut veggies into large chunks (for brussels sprouts, cut in half). Toss in 1 tablespoon melted butter (about 15 grams) [use twice as much butter if you are making a lot].
Roast at 375 F (190 celsius) for about 30 minutes, or until they are starting to brown. Drizzle them with 1 tablespoon (15 mL) maple syrup [use twice as much if you are making a lot] and roast for another 5 minutes.
The original recipe called for a little bit of ginger "straws" (ginger cut into extremely thin matchstick-like pieces) to be roasted with the veggies and a bit of ground ginger stirred into the syrup. This adds a nice zip to the flavor, but if you want to keep it simple, you can skip the ginger.

I have fake favorite teams and everything.
And my answer to, "Did you catch the game last night" is no longer "I don't watch sports," but "No, I actually missed it. What did you think?"
I'm getting pretty good at this.
I've done this before in the past, especially with the rabidity of Boston fans. However, as I grow older, and now that I don't depend on client relationships in my job, I don't feel the need to dissemble. Plus, I have always hated sports, and their rabid fans and their mindless chatter about the doings of a band of overpriced jocks they consider their 'family' when these jerk-jocks couldn't care one iota about them.
I take no pride in a sports win I had nothing to do with. If you want to go play a pick-up game, that's fine, I can toss a ball with the best of them. Don't talk to me how 'we' won a game or a title. 'We' didn't. The professional jerk-jocks did, and then retreated to their mansions for parties or dog fights or Ferrari races depending on their whim.

Wee cabbages are delicious! You don't have to do much with them beyond a light (but thorough) steaming and a little drizzled butter. Of course, you must select young, tender sprouts, not the ancient croquet balls.
But the pineapple/maple you mention sounds intriguing, especially with a hint of anchovy paste.

Nope, do it the British way. Get the old yellow-y ones, that are slightly peeling and have brown dotted bits.
Then boil then in normal water until you get rid of any remnants of taste and turn the consistency to mush. Then serve....

IIRC, that was how I ate it in elementary school and I loved it. It looked so awful but tasted so good.
