We are however currently in Cormyr. Working to place the Steel Regent on the Dragon Throne as queen, without resorting to a bloody revolt or foul play against the boy king Azoun V. In the mean time we'll continue crushing Cormyr's enemies, recovering lost treasure and buying up land and holdings throughout the realm.

Maybe I should GM a session or two for a group of Cormyrians... Purple Dragon Criminal Special Investigations Unit or something like that.

Nekked support of the Princess Alusair!

I heard she likes that kind of support from her friends. ;)

Let me know if you go that route, I have a ton of stuff on the forest kingdom. I heartily recommend you get Volo's Guide to Cormyr and the Cormyr sourcebook, if you don't have them already.

I think I'm going to call it a night, I have an early day tomorrow and I want to get it over with without falling asleep. :/

I am going to sleep too. It's 4 AM here. Night FaWtLings.

Do sister-wives get shares of bacon and cake?

This is a great day.

I was under the assumption that sister wives shared everything.

Those are lands that were already campaigned in? Eh, I need to give my crystal ball to fine tuning again...
The next one we have to get done is the massive Kingmaker map, for us that would be the nation of Thundengaard. We're going to need a whole wall for that bad boy though.

That's one bad-ass name, I have to admit. It's nothing compared to Verlandia, though. Okay, that's a slightly less badass name, but I'm playing it in 48 hours, so I'm a bit biased overall.

Still hate FR, but that sounds pretty cool. It's also important to note that the one FR character I had was a renegade wizard from Cormyr, using the Wizards and Rogues of the Realms kit. The Wizards and Rogues of the Realms and Warriors and Priests of the Realms books are two books that I still read to this day, despite the FR hate. Quality work, even I had to admit that, although there were a few balance issues.

CSI Suzail, here we go!

I kinda think Arabel Purple would be a better fit - David Caruso got nekkid a lot more in that. Sadly, so did Dennis Franz.

There was a way of turning TPP view in Morrowind? I'll have to search for it. It helps me from time to time...

In the Xbox version, you click down on the right analog stick. On PC, you can do it by pressing TAB. Also, you can zoom in and out while in 3rd person mode by holding down the right analog stick and moving it forward or backward, or by holding down TAB and scrolling up or down.

I always just keep the view in third person, and only switch to first person when I'm using ranged attacks or need to pick something up. I usually have wicked bad motion sickness from games, and that seems to get rid of most of it.
Pretty much the same here, damn if I don't get headaches from watching Kellen play his character though. Boy loves to play in first person mode.

Morrowind and Skyrim are fine as long as I stay in 3PP. Oblivion on the other hand... that f*~%ing bloom effect on everything makes my head spin. You remember the last time I tried playing. Ended up dry-heaving out in the yard after two hours of gameplay.

Or how about old-style: Waterdeep vice!

Shiny, I'd appreciate your POV on general character concept for Tordek's game. It's here.

Guys... The 3D vomit effect is a pretty specific phenomenon. What f$#&s up you sense of balance is that you are too close or too far away from the screen. 3D graphics always has to make that assumption about how far away you sit. If it turns your stomach, try adjusting your viewing distance.

Also, bacon.

Good morning to all my FAWTLY brethren. Happy Friday! Especially since it comes at the start of a 3 day weekend.

Scarab Sages

I may try to brew a beer this weekend. It depends on how my wife is feeling. The poor thing stayed home again today.

Scarab Sages

Watched Taken 2 last night. Not as good as the original. As much as I like Liam Neeson and am convinced he could rip my spine out just by gazing at me and concentrating, I think he may be getting a bit too old for the action stuff.

Also, we had a dusting of snow this morning. Not much, just enough to annoy.

I used to be a fan of FR - partly from the novels line, partly from all the boxed sets they used to put out (many of which I still own). Haven't bought anything related for years now.

I still like NCIS, although some of the minor changes that've been creeping in over the years have been annoying me. I believe that Mark Harmon is another one of those human beings that could cause considerable damage to me with a minimum of effort. Plus the chick that plays Ziva is hot as hell.

Same here although we were meant to have 6 inches.

dood, stallone is positively geriatric and he's still in the game. Ditto Schwarzenegger. The onlyone who is aslowing down is Jackie chan.

I also must thank fr for introducing me to two of my favorite authors - Paul Kemp and Richard Lee Byers. I still read their novels on a regular basis . They got characterization and action so right, I genuinely forgot it was fr. Once or twice I realized and got quite mad.

Still hate me some alphabet soup cop shows, however. They create unrealistic expectations of LEOs and encourage ridiculous expectations of life in ny and other cities. Only 90s sitcoms are worse.

I'm convinced that the cheesy Judge Dredd Movie was actually an attempt by Stallone to quietly reveal his own secret origin as a cloned superhuman.

Schwarzenegger is trying to get a King Conan movie made, nuff said!

I recently lost all respect for Jackie Chan with some comments he made about the USA. Although I still think he could probably remove my spleen with a pair of chopsticks.

Indeed! I've enjoyed the writings of both. And I was very excited to hear that Byers would be writing a PF Tales novel. In fact, I'm currently awaiting delivery of that one.

Now if they could just get Kemp to write some PF......

His PF Tales novel is Called to Darkness. It was just recently released.

The only reason I don't already have it is that I bundled it with some stuff coming out in January.

All right folks! Gotta get busy. Got some major s@%& to try and finish up today.

Spent 20 minutes this morning trying to get my frozen-shut car open, then ten waiting for it to defrost. Was minutes away from being late to work and having to turn right around and go back home and wait until 10:30 due to work tardiness code. I HATE winter.

I'm personally pretty fed up with FR due to playing it for years on end and being constantly frustrated with various aspects of the setting, which eventually led to me ditching it in my PnP games and creating my own homebrew setting. I'll admit the novels are a big part of this: especially on Neverwinter Nights servers where a few people have read the novels and consider them strongly canon, but a bunch of the rest of us (including staff) have not and don't, and you get into canonicity arguments ALL THE TIME.

But that said I'll always have a special fondness for Cormyr and Shadowdale due to my NWN days. The first one I ever played on was set in Shadowdale and the surrounding environs, and the second primarily in Arabel.

The first might be making a comeback, if RL relents on the new hosts a little.

And with that, I'm out for the day. Long workday ahead, and probably gonna be a cold trip home. See ya tonight, FAWTLfolk.

Morning? Already?

Didn't we just have one of those?!?

<Grumblygripewheresmyfriggincoffee>

Also, I always liked the FR setting. And the novels. Now they put out a prodigious amount of novels, and some of them are not worth the paper they are printed on, but most fall somewhere between 'Not bad' and 'Pretty frikkin good' on the Ragadolf scale of book rating. :)

But, I confess my fondness (Addiction?) for the high-magic settings. So take that as you will. But as I was pretty much the only one in my group that read the novels, we never got into 'this is canon' arguments, and we always ripped off whatever we wanted from wherever and used it if we liked it. :)

I noticed just yesterday that this will be a 3 day weekend. That's nifty.

Still Monday off! woo-hoo! :D

Thing about FR is that it's really diverged into a bewildering mass of DIFFERENT settings all on its own. The core Realms is what Ed wrote, basically the western and eastern Heartlands, really a quite points-of-lightish setting which to my thinking is still awesome. Then various supplements, expansions, books, events and so on have added stuff to this core, not all of them fitting in very well or being very good, AND MANY OR MOST OF THESE HAVE CONTINUED INDEPENDENTLY OF EACH OTHER. For example, once Netheril was defined beyond "ancient magical empire", Netherese details have absorbed more and more stuff to itself.

It's like London, it's easier to understand if you manage to see it as several vaguely connected pieces than try to make a picture containing all of it at once.
