Nah. I just conk out before the Puffin does, then wake up after a few hours because he's not there.

I hope he's doing well. We miss him too.

EDIT: Oh dear!

Wow, you really miss him!

Thanks, BT. I miss him here, too, but it's much better for his mental health to be off these boards.

Lots of snow here. The kidlet is loving it of course. :)

Now back to working on pbp stuff....got to get that combat back up and running and provide feedback for newbies. And then some errands. And I think today I will spend some time making a new pair of earrings...or maybe I'll work on that bracelet. It's so nice being on break and actually getting to do some creative stuff for a change. I even read a book yesterday. For fun and everything. ^.^

I need more ideas for this. Suggestions requested =)

"Oh. You. I thought I got rid of you ages ago. What were you doing lurking in allegories biting me?"

I'm allergic to allegories

Sovereign Court

Reading the complaint threads on Superstar, I breathe a sigh of relief that I haven't violated any currently spoken of pet peeves...except possibly SIAC, arguably. I also have convinced myself, sadly, that I probably wasn't imaginative / evocative / cool enough to get to the top 32. which is sad, because I have an archtype idea I'm really excited about.

I sympathize Jess. As I said before, it's the fact that the opening round is "create an item" that keeps me out of Superstar - it's one of the main things I don't consider myself good at at all. I just can't wrap my head around the item creation rules, much less come up with an interesting idea beyond SIAC.

Sovereign Court

I did my best to avoid looking at spells at all to avoid SIAC syndrome, which is my biggest weakness, I think. I started out from a non-spell standpoint...and still ended up, when I statted it out, at SIAC. *sigh*

You don't want to muddy your item up introducing extraneous stuff just to "avoid" SIAC, because then you're item can really become unclear / cluttered.

I guess that's why I"m not superstar. ;)

If things opened with "create a monster" or "create an archetype" I think I'd have a better chance of getting in. Monsters I can do, easy, and archetypes I have a few ideas I think would be worth a shot.

Sovereign Court

Monsters would be more difficult for me. I design more from the player perspective. :)

I'm more often the GM so yeah.

I'm all but certain I'm out of the running for top 32. I'm a newbie and still learning PF (heck, I haven't even been playing a year). I'm bound to have screwed something up.

I do think most of the people in that forum are being too harsh - either I'm not getting the same items they are, or my standards are a little less draconian. And not gonna lie...if I thought the entire gamer community was represented by the more vocal people in some of those threads, I don't know why anyone would want to design anything for games. I totally get frustration with poor writing and formatting, but there is a difference between constructive criticism and crushing someone into dust.

In other news, I'm depressed.

Les Miz is really good, btw.

I'll probably end up making dummy entries for the next rounds, even if I can't submit. Only way to learn is to practice, right?

I plan to post mine once submissions are done, at least for archetypes. :)

New year is approaching!!

Yay!

Not a bad idea. I'm still enamored by the 1k threads, but I may play along.

Damn, I should have taken that umbrella...

I'm back from pub where I met with friend who was back in Poland for Christmas (she lives in Frankfurt currently, with her husband).

There were four Poles, one German and one French (I think) by the table - both foreigners being husbands of friends. At least I have an occasion to speak English a bit.

Don't you love waking up with your lips all dried out? *gets water*

Frankfurt am Mainz or Frankfurt an der Oder? (Some of my old classmates went to the latter for a week during an EU program.)

Give him some hellos, though.

The west one (F. am Main). Do I recall correctly this is near aeglos?

Ah at least long drive is done from yesterday and I survived driving in snow.

I really should buy myself a helmet to at least use on my way to and from work. Not looking forward to another 3 hours of riding around on iced-over roads whilst being dizzy as all heck.

Been a really long time since I saw a mounted policeman, apropos of nothing.

Minis are well and good, but when do we get the official Pathfinder Lego® line?

Tomorrow is my father's birthday. He'll be 71. My boy is named after him, a fact which he loves to tell everyone he meets.

The old man doesn't know it, but my brothers are coming in from Houston with their respective wives and the younger ones kids. They'll get in tomorrow, then we'll have a get together on Saturday.

The guild leader board for those involved in the PFO Kickstarter is up with Sebastian's FAWTLIAN guild. If you are participating in the KS at the $35 level you can vote to get the guild a higher place in the territory draft at the beginning of the game. The poll is stickied to the top of the Pathfiner Online thread

Peace out

*blink*

I'm thinking I might give the old man a framed picture of myself and Charlie. Just because we're so f%&$ing awesome!

AWRIGHT!!! That's a great idea, dood.

Cool. My Dad's 87. He was a Navy Corpsman in WW2.

+1

My Dad won't get on the internet so I'm planning on putting together a physical photo album of his great grand kids for him.

I got him a bottle of Glenlivet single malt for Christmas.

I found out on Christmas that a friend is going through Chemo.

Good luck to him.

It's going to be really tough on him, but I have living proof in one of my brothers that it can be more than worth the suffering.

Brrr. It's really cold here - guess that's what I get for leaving windows open while I'm at work.

Thanks man.

It's not cancer, but it's an auto immune disorder. In the past he was able to treat it successfully with a treatment that is not legal here in the US due to the FDA, but this is his last hope. They are trying to destroy his immune system with chemo in a last ditch effort to save him.

It kills me to think of his daughters without him, but the doctors never thought he would live this long. His Dad worked into his sixties with the same disorder so I still hold out some hope in spite of the the doctors and the government.

I'm so inexpressibly tired of laying my friends to rest.

I wish we had parted on better terms.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! I hope everyone has an awesome day.

Kind of gloomy weather here in NOLA, but we'll make the best of it.

BT, sorry to hear about your friend. Hope things work out for the best.

Now I gotta go get ready so I can bring the wife to the allergy doctor.

Paid rent and feel substantially poorer. On the plus side it's been a sunny day (all three hours the big nuclear fission reactor in the sky managed to drag itself over the horizon, at least), I've picked up season 2 of Deadwood, and have been able to breathe through my nose at least part of the time.
