One of the barbarian's new rage powers in the APG is "Flesh Wound", but I have a question about it.
It claims that you're supposed to choose to use the ability before damage is rolled, but the DC is based on the damage that would be taken (which will not have been rolled by then).
Are we supposed to build time machines before we can consider using this ability?
More seriously, I assume this means that one should roll the damage, and then allow use of the ability. . . .

I would run it thus.
1) Barbarian has been hit.
2) Player must declare before damage is rolled that he wishes to use this ability.
3) Damage is rolled, and DC is determined.
4) Resolve the use of Flesh Wound.
Basically the Player must declare that he wishes to use the ability prior to the damage being rolled. Then the damage is roled and the use of the ability is applied.
The stipulation is there just so the the Player cant wait till have he knows how much damage he will be taking and then decide to use the ability.

That's the spirit of this rule.
You must use it before you know how much damage you take.
Make sure to let your GM know about this ability, so they won't just blurt out damage values to you without telling you that you've been hit first. Some GMs do that.
