Gunslinger update coming this week?

Gunslinger Discussion: Round 1

Firearm bullets do not weigh the same as sling bullets, so don't worry overly much about the encumbrance.

I'm on the road, and I didn't bring the full draft of the new rules with me, but I will be posting the actual weight of bullets with an sticky update on all the classes in the next week.

If you can't wait, assume that 20 bullets with black powder weigh 1 lb. That may not be the exact weight, but it's close enough for our playtest purposes.

Snagged the quote from another thread. I was just wondering if this was still happening? And maybe before Friday? I planning on playing a 'Slinger in my game this week and was hoping to hook it up with the update.

Keep up the great work Gents!

I honestly wouldn't hold out TOO much hope for a very large, fleshed out update any time soon on any of these archetypes quite yet.

Personally I can see a LOT of people getting upset at any attempt to change how they are right now if only for the fact that something has been made "official" by way of being released by the company and any change to is can only be bad, by way of logic that change is always bad.

That being said... I would love to see an updated document or even just some notes and discussion on what direction they are trying to go with on them.

My 2 Cents:
I would like to see each of these either pared down in size to that of a true archetype or fleshed out as a full core class. In the case of the Samurai and Ninja I think an archetype is appropriate, but would require a neat bit of trimming from what they have ALREADY put out for it. The gunslinger needs quite a bit of work before it is finished and trying to label it a fighter archetype is IMO, a mistake and will only limit the design and intent of the final product.

They updated Summoner cause it needed it. So does the 'Slinger.

This is not true around here. Almost every class that has been play-tested has received an update before the book was released. Which then contained even more changes based on feedback.

That's the entire reason for the play-tests. Take a look at the arvhived APG play-test if you are curious to see how the entire thing can pan out.

+1 to what Scipion said. The Paizo dudes are the Wolverine of RPGs.

Wow us with some updation!(making up words is fun :p)

It is usually a few weeks After the Play Test time is over that they give us an Change for another Playtest. The First play test does not end until Feb 12th.

+1 Keening

There hasn't even been a full week on the playtest yet for these three classes. Give it time, the feb 12th date sounds about right to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get some updates to the playtest for the Gunslinger sooner than the Feb 12th date. It's obvious there's a good deal of work to be done on this class, and that Paizo is well aware of this fact.

Like it says in the quote I posted there should be an update for the Gunslinger sometime this week. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen til next week or later. It is lot of work and they're doing other stuff too. But SRM said this week so I'm hoping for tomorrow at this point. I'll take what I can get though.

Sorry, I had some FAQ items I wanted to get out this week, but a pile of projects, a sick wife, and traveling got in my way.

I'm shooting for early next week...right after I finish serving as a guest judge on RPG Superstar.

I looked over the rules for power attack and deadly aim and realized that the feat I suggested (mixed deadliness) isn't needed. The penalties for power attack only apply to melee attacks and the penalties for deadly aim only apply for ranged attacks -- so you could use both in one round without affecting the other type of attack.

I wish her a quick recovery. Take care of her: we can wait a few extra weeks for our new toys! :) Real-life/health issues = priority.

It's all good. Hope the wife gets better soon. Like PDK said real life takes precedence.

Stephen, I hope you get things squared away and can give us some info and hopefully improvements soon. It's getting pretty slow around here - methinks most of us have hit the wall on what can be said/done with the current incarnation and need more info and some redesign. :)

Hope your weekend was good and restful! We'll all be cracking the whip tomorrow morning, I'm sure. ;)
