OK, I give up, can someone explain the smurf thing to me? First I don't understand how someone else can change everyone's avatar to a smurf picture? Wouldn't that require administrative access?

Second, if you have "smurf" anywhere in your post your avatar for that post will become a smurf. It has become a mechanism to attempt to diffuse a thread gone awry by many and to shut down a thread by many others. And some just like to see what smurf they get.
