I might, it seems amusing.
A lot of it has to do with tone in my opinion. If you want to be taken seriously than you need have a serious premise, which I didn't think Firefly had. Conversely I could enjoy something like Cowboys and Aliens because I know from the get go that it's not to be taken seriously.
Mainly I'm a fan of fairly hard or completely over the top science fiction.

The Guild- a trite and unoriginal waste of time. Felicia Day is popular because she's female, almost the same case as well....Stevie Case.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show- Quite possibly the stupidest movie ever made. All copies of this film need to be burned for the good of humanity. Those that feel the need to perform it onstage should be given a full frontal lobotomy....if they even have a brain left. As Mr Cranky would say, this film is proof that Jesus died in vain.
Joss Whedon- He's not the visionary everyone makes him out to be. Buffy sucked, Angel sucked more, Firefly sucked and I did bother to see Serenity but it probably sucked too. Everything he makes is cheap, B grade quality. Worthy of nothing more than SyFy.
Quentin Tarantino- Once again. Here is another who's reputation far outweighs his talent.
Star Wars- Much like an old horse. Please, just take it out back and put it out of our misery, and shoot George while you're at it before he tries to sell me another version of Star Wars.
Star Trek- While I did like the new film I have to ask the question..."How can I miss you if you don't go away?"
Robotech- I had to reach back for this one. The concept isn't bad. However, I have had for a long time the overwhelming compulsion to commit physical violence against whoever came up with the dialogue. You would think George Lucas wrote it.
Some have commented about anime. The thing that sucks about anime is that its hard to find the really good stuff. My definition of good being: Perfect Blue, Ghost in the Shell, BubbleGum Crisis.
I'm trying to figure out who God is. Is he Bruce Campbell or Lemmy Kilmister?

Glad someone else here hates this film (although the Time Warp is a catchy number I'll admit).
That said, am I the only one here who really likes Joss Whedon?

My understanding is some crazy stuff happened in the process of turning Macross into Robotech that produced the odd dialog. Largely bad translations from the Japanese and the fact the American producers actually rearranged scenes and plots but couldn't make more footage, and tried to cover weird edits with weirder dialog. Also, the second and third story arcs weren't even related to the first (or each other) in the Japanese originals, so there was even more weird-hacky dialog to tie them together.

Joss Whedon is an overrated hack. And a stupid, overrated hack at that - "I want to make a new show, I think I will go back to the network that keeps screwing me over because it has an actress I want to use instead of using one of the dozen others who look just like her and going to cable."
I'll take that as a yes...

Firefly had potential but Fox blew it and then the cult following overhyped it. If Whedon takes another show idea to Fox, he should be fired forever. He has enough geek and sci-fi cred to get in on several cable channels and they have significantly less strenuous viewership requirements.

Never played 1st edition, 2nd edition, or 4th edition D&D. Started with 3.5 and haven't moved on.
Never played a character past level 7 or 8. My group just can't stick to a game long enough to see anything through.
I own a good deal of Dark Heresy and World of Darkness rulebooks, but have never played either.
Can never finish a console game. Can't get more than a disc or two through any RPG, including the Final Fantasy series (except for 9, which I actually finished -- and I must say, WHY?! WHY NECRON?!).
Alan Wake was the worst game I have ever played.
Spent years playing WoW, and regret every second of it. I have not the slightest idea what I saw in that game. MMOs are massive waste of time.
Didn't know what Firefly was until reading this thread. Actually saw Serenity, as it was recommended by a fellow gamer, but I wasn't impressed. In fact, I couldn't really understand what all the hype was about. Watched it again with a friend of mine and we joked about the atrocious accents the whole time, which is funny because he has a huge southern fetish.
Star Trek is boring.
Jedis are lame. The only good thing about Star Wars was Han Solo, and even he couldn't save that pile.
The Drizzt series sucks. I kept waiting for Artemis to finish that fairy off, but unfailingly Drizzt would always come out on top. I was pissed when Wulfgar was brought back, and have never forgiven Salvatore for it.
I liked the Gunslinger, but haven't gotten around to reading the rest of the Dark Tower series.
I have never bought a comic book other than the Sandman.
I am a huge Neil Gaiman fanatic. So much so that I annoy myself.

Save yourself the time and forget it. Next time you go to a book store just take a look at the last line at the last book in the series. Just quit while you're ahead. Your sanity will thank you for it because reading those last books is time you will never get back.

I'm glad I was locked up when the last three came out. Had I wasted free world time reading them, I'd be much more upset about them than I am.

I can't stand most anime.
There, I said it. Look, I think Akira was well-made. Howl's Moving Castle was fun. Yes, I watched Speed Racer as a kid.
Other than that, I've seen dozens of other titles that friends have tried to show me. I think there are a scant few good selections out of the hundreds of titles out there that are just crap.

Just read the Wikipedia plot summaries. You know what happened in the books and then you know why you don't care.

I would agree with many of the statements in this thread, but there are too many of them for me to bother quoting every one.
I think that it's impossible for any given person to like EVERYTHING that's geeky. In fact, in my view, the one advantage to being a geek is...
Warning! Flame alert!
...that you have the freedom to choose WHICH geeky things you like, and which you don't. You don't HAVE to pretend to like something just because it's the "in" thing.
I'm sure many will disagree with me on that.

Funny I liked most of the books. I will say skip the drawing of the three. Utter trash. Some of the latter books are real good.

If you ask the Brucester he'll tell you himself, there was never any pretense that he was doing anything other than grade B movies.... and having a lot of fun doing it.
He's a lot more serious on Burn Notice though.

Can't stand Rocky horror. I got done watching it and asked 'Can I have those two years of my life back?'
As to JW Love/Hate, what can I say, I liked Buffy/Angel, loved Firefly (though I understood it was Reconstruction in Space), only kind of watched Dollhouse and have never seen Dr. Horrible. Personally I like that he uses actors he's worked with before. I appriciate loyalty.
And What's a Felicia Day?

I hate Anime
I dislike D&D would much rather be playing almost anything else but it is easier to find players for it and I am still a good GM for it, also unlike my games I prefer *Shadowrun, WoD*, Paizo knows how to keep a customer.
I think Firefly is a poorly written piece of garbage.
I actually like the Star Wars Prequels...

Felicity Day is kinda cute but she is in no concevable way the "Hawtness" that most geeks think she is.
IMO Star Wars in all its forms has always sucked, especially Bobba Fett.
Regarding Star Wars, I couldn't agree more.
Boba Fett owes 100% of his popularity to the fact that they made his toy "rare".Regarding Felicia Day, you're f'n insane.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Whedon, I must rush to the defense of Robotech and encourage you to watch the original Macross, subtitled. I will never forgive harmony gold for the way they do business, and it all starts with their ham-fisted attempts to localize/americanize everything they touch.

Well, you may not like HG's policies (I don't, for other reasons) but you must admit Robotech was a 'gateway drug' for a lot of anime fans.

My opinion? It's because we knew nothing about him, he has two lines, and is apparently a) smarter than Han and b) Known by Vader.
I think it's that he was a blank slate that we could project whatever coolness we wanted on.
What soured me on Wolverine? A mix of knowing his background and how lame it was.

A confession that may seem shocking for a twenty-two year old serious gamer.
I'm addicted to Digimon Xros Wars (Basically Digimon + Combining Mecha)
No shame there man. None at all. Digimon as a series on the whole is a LOT darker than the american kiddified version. I hate Power Rangers with a passion, but I have to admit the true sentai version is likewise alot more serious.

My geek card has been revoked and returned time and time again. sigh.
Once it was cut in to pieces in front of me so to speak.
I was GMing a Star Wars game, set in the KOTOR timeframe, in my barracks when a player jokingly asked if anybody in the cantina looked like Mark Hamil.
I said "who?"
I learned the definition of mutinous that day, in full effect.

I have never seen, nor have I any interest in seeing, Dr. Who. I mean, I really don't get the premise at all. What exactly is he supposed to be doing? Plus, almost any program based around time travel is probably going to wind up with some serious paradoxes and continuity issues, I'd think.
Anime fight scenes almost universally suck. Posing, threats, and a single, barely-observed strike do not interest me, unless they are accompanied by some actual ANIMATION.
I think pretty much all giant robots are stupid. Sure, you could build this big war machine that has to balance on two legs... or you could just put all those guns on a tank.
I HATED the new BSG once they started adding in religious prophecies and stuff like that. With very few exceptions, I expect my scifi to be HARD.
And you know what?
I LIKED JAR-JAR BINKS.
