I'm looking for a little advice. I've played pathfinder before a little, but i've only played as a Monk (which went well for a few dungeons before our DM took a break) and a Ranger (Campaign only lasted a few sessions). My gaming group is going to taking on some new members soon and I have a decision I would like some help on. Choosing a class.
We're getting a new DM also, so I need to be prepared for anything. I'm not sure what point buy we are doing or what classes the rest of the party will be, expect for a Bard. We are expecting around 5-6 PCs. Generally I like to play classes that do well on their own and can fit into different roles and help out in different ways. At the same time, I love to deal high damage and be the one to help take down monsters. I'd like some advice on a few classes or character types that would fit well with most groups and that are able to hold their own amongst 6 people or alone. Thanks.

Sounds like you want to play a Rogue to me. Lots of skills, so there is plenty to do outside of combat; with the right build, you can do lots of damage solo (search for Hulky McRogueboy) and even more when you team up with some people; with the right skills and talents, you can even be a back-up back-up spell-user (via the magic talents and UMD).
