what would be good gear for a 7th lvl zen archer

Advice

Looking for advice on what gear to purchase for a 7th lvl zen archer.

Bow and arrows.

Dark Archive

+2 composite (to str)bow (long or short based on whichever you took weapon focus in)

+2 wisdom item

+2 natural armor item (rings of prot and bracers of armor should be more common than natural armor items, so you'll probably find both. Don't bother buying them)

Arrows. A lot of them. Maybe some +1's with a d6 energy or various bane arrows.

A Monk's Robe is you can somehow afford it.

Could you post build, or at least stats and feats?

belt of the monk is rather useless for zen archers. You don't get the stunning fist, and you arent using unarmed combat. Especially since the ability to do unarmed damage with the bow doesn't come till later.

So its a lot of money for 1ac...

A belt of str+2 is much more practical.

Actually a Zen Archer gets the ability to sub bow damage for unarmed damage at 5th level:

Ki Arrows (Su)
At 5th level, a zen archer may spend 1 point from his ki pool as a swift action to change the damage dice of arrows he shoots to that of his unarmed strikes. This lasts until the start of his next turn. For example, a Medium zen archer’s short bow normally deals 1d6 damage; using this ability, his arrows deal 1d8 damage until the start of his next turn.

And at 7th level the Monks Robe increases the unarmed damage to 2d6 and adds +2 to AC.

That's a pretty big increase considering the massive number of arrows that can be fired at 7th.

Zen Archers have almost zero need for dexterity, charisma or intelligence, except for fluff reasons, so in a nutshell; they only require two stats to shine. You are looking at one of the least MAD character classes in the game. Basically, pushing Str and Wis really high and then adding insult to injury by purchasing or locating a belt of str and a headband of wisdom is the simplest way to make an effective combatant out of the Zen Archer

Get this: Boosting Wisdom nets you a higher ac, more ki points, more Will save bouses, higher attack bonus and a further boost to some of your important class skills. I can't think of other character classes who would get so much from one ability, except perhaps Oracles of Lore from Charisma and Alchemists from Intelligence. Maximizing Wisdom goes a long way!

When it comes to other equipment, perhaps getting the Lesser Bracers of Archery might be a good idea too. They are really cheap. Naturally you also require a high str composite bow, but those come pretty cheap if you have 7th lvl wealth allotment to spend. A monk's robe might be nice as well, but it's way too expensive for the moment, instead concentrate on maximizing the benefits from your strengths, before adding padding to the weaknesses, like small damage die and lack of high ac.
