Spell Resistance help?

Can anyone explain to me how to calculate the number you put in the spell resistance box oh the pathfinder character sheet?

Most characters do not have spell resistance. Especially not low-level characters made up of the standard humanoid races in the Core Rulebook. If you do play a creature that has spell resistance, or gain an item or ability that provides spell resistance, the equation to determine it should be listed in that thing's specific description.
