Dedicated Voter Season 6, Star Voter Season 7

Greetings :)

Over at our RPG blog tenletter, is a nice post (link) on things to consider for archetype creation. It doesn't go into many specifics, but it does highlight some good things.

:( - I'm sorry to hear that. Keep in mind that truly great ideas can ignore all the advice and shine by the power of their awesome. But maybe you've fallen in love with an idea so much that you lost sight of it objectively, maybe in that case the post really did help :)

I think it was the latter...was sort of some character concept more than an archetype usable for many different characters

Then consider taking a step back from the original idea and ask yourself "what is the archetype that also makes this concept viable?" - think bigger and you'll find your idea again, hopefully stronger than before.

I am a "story-geek" rather than a "rules-geek". I tend to see archetypes inside a story. It might be reasonable to envision the archetype in a story or background and see how well it wares, test out what it can contribute to the flow of the plot. If it has difficulty being a contributing (not necessarily primary) factor in supporting three or four plot lines, the concept may still need some polish. But I could be wrong.
