Would an Orc Double axe still require Two Weapon Fighting feat for an orc?

Advice

And if so, would it still require a 15 dex to qualify? What about Heirloom weapon? Would that make any difference?

Im just wondering since it is an orcish weapon welded by an orc if it would make any difference at all.

Having proficiency in an item does not let you bypass feats. Two weapon fighting is needed regardless of race or trait

I suspect they get the Double Axe proficiency because they aren't the best characters for two weapon fighting (usually associated to having a good Dex score), so orcs going this way get a slighty better double weapon.
However, altough it deals 1 point more of damage than short swords, and it got critical multiplier x3, the Critical feats may make the short swords critical range better.
In any case, whether it helps two fighting orcs or not, it adds flavor.

No, an orc does not require two weapon fighting to wield an orc double axe. You can use either end of the axe as a martial weapon. Should you wish to use both ends in a single attack or full attack, the two weapon fighting feat will reduce the penalties associated with two weapon fighting, however; you don't have to have the two weapon fighting feat to use both ends of the orc double axe.

If your orc is a 2nd level ranger choosing his weapon style, no, you do not need to meet the prerequisites for two weapon fighting. If not, yes, the orc does need to meet the prerequisites for the feat.

If your orc does not have martial weapon proficiencies, then the Heirloom weapon trait will allow them to be proficient with that specific orc double axe, but not with any other orc double axe. Regardless, you receive a masterwork orc double axe for the cost of a regular orc double axe. That is a huge cost savings.

Yes, that makes a difference. An orc considers any weapon with the word "orc" in it's name to be a martial weapon and not an exotic weapon.

you still most have martial weapon pro in order to use it as a martial weapon. my game group at paizo con learnd that the hard way with the elven curvblade. i was an elf barbarian who could use one and we had an elf rogue who had one but turnd out had to take the -4 untill he took or got martial weapon pro.

It seems I have learned a new rule every day this week.
