Hi guys and gals,
Im going to be playing a "crusader Style game" which essentially means mount friendly, this invites alot of characters tomake massive one trick pony charge monkeys. so what i want to do as a build is make an optimized bullrush build and i know there are a few options. i would like to optimize and was wondering if anyone else has thought up a good bullrush specialized character. i know there is polearm master for the weapon bullrush and i looked into hungry ghost monk but i have to be able torelyably push them atleast 10 feet for "re-charging". i hope this post wasnt too confusing...

Polearm Master is good, but the bullrush ability don't hit till lvl 13 albeit with a -4 penalty.
I do like the general idea though. I would instead choose the Phalanx Soldier. Go for the Improved Bullrush and Greater Bullrush feats. Then Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Shield Bash and Shield Slam. That way you get damage and a bullrush.
If you are mounted there is nothing that keeps you from using any of the Phalanx Soldiers abilities. Also have a buddy and you take the Combat Maneuvers (Teamwork) feat. Would kinda be like the Brentonnia Knights from Warhammer tabletop...
A non-horse mount would also give you more feats you could use.
We have a couple homebrew campaign rules we use for mounted combat, here is one:
1) You can train a colt to a warhorse and change out the Run feat for a combat feat. When I DM, I make the player have the same feat that he is training on the mount. Teaching an animal a feat is Handle Animal DC is 20 and takes 6 weeks of training. Most of my players go for a teamwork feat.

My point being, when you Bullrush an opponent you are travelling with them, so at the end you won't have cleared a 10' space in which to 're-charge'. Regardless of how far the BR goes, you will still end the move adjacent to them.
In PF this has changed, you no longer have to move with the "rushee"

WOW!
OK thats a change (not for the better) that I didn't catch.
Its no longer a 'Bull Rush' but simply 'a big shove'. Gets a bit untidy when you read further about collecting a second opponent - as you need to make a new check - how can you do that from several feet away?
Anyhow, noted its now RAW.
Would be house-fixing it myself ;p

Yeah, there are many little changes like this that are easy to miss. I only knew this, because I'm playing a Shield-bash / bullrush focused oracle of battle right now.
As for the pushing a second creature part, yeah, a new check is kinda weird, I would say a reasonable houserule would be to simply apply the penalty to your original check.Back To topic: It's not to hard to be good at a single combat maneuver. The main question would be the question of Stlye.
Mounted Charging?
Spartan-like Shieldslams?
Powerfull Martial Arts kicks and throws?
Wrestling-type Fullbody slams?
...

If your attack is successful, your target is pushed back 5 feet. For every 5 by which your attack exceeds your opponent's CMD you can push the target back an additional 5 feet. You can move with the target if you wish but you must have the available movement to do so. If your attack fails, your movement ends in front of the target.Shifty wrote:My point being, when you Bullrush an opponent you are travelling with them, so at the end you won't have cleared a 10' space in which to 're-charge'.
