My search-fu blows...so if someone knows where this is listed I would love to have the link.
My question is regarding the crossbow archetype in the APG. The crossbowman gets to add his dex to damage on a readied action (1/2 a low levels and then full dex at higher levels). Is this viable in combat?
Can you ready an action every since turn? I want my NPC's to have heavy crossbows for an encounter, but I can't see them readying every time. How would the combat go? "If anyone attacks... I hit them..."
I suppose that would work. Keeping track of their initiative would be a pain, but could be fun. One PC moves to hit and all the crossbowman shoot at him. Once he is down, they move to the next target. Or they focus on the mage, or some do this and some do that (no, I am not trying to kill my PC's... lol Just trying to see if this is viable).
I might have worked this out already... but thoughts would be appreciated.

No reason why not. The crossbowman will slide down the initiative order at first, as you mentioned, and might lose some actions if the enemies don't do what he expects. I don't think "if anyone attacks, I shoot that person" is specific enough, but that's a GM call.
