Let's give our mysterious benefactor until Thursday to show up. If he hasn't, then I'll start a game set in post-Rise of the Runelords Sandpoint. Because, well, I love Sandpoint. The game will begin during the Long Day Festival on the Summer Solstice. Players can tell me why they've come to the Festival, or if they live in Sandpoint, what they do there.
Sound good?

Okay, barring our Mysterious Benefactor's sudden appearance, I'm going to go ahead and start dreaming up horrible fates, I mean a story for you lot.
So, tell me why you're in Sandpoint, three years after a small band of heroes successfully prevented the Runelord Karzoug from rising. Sandpoint is mostly rebuilt after the pounding it took, but there are now several entrances to catacombs beneath the town and surrounding areas that attract adventurers and ne'er do wells. Also, the surrounding area has seen a rise in monstrous activity, as Karzoug's army disbanded and faded into the area. Rumors have been coming in from travelers that speak of bands of giants combing the hinterlands, supposedly searching for the Septurian Key. No indication of who or what this is has been heard. Most of the personalities from the RotRL adventure path are still in town, so any notable personalities you know from there can be used in your justifications.
I'll aim to get the first post up on Friday if I hear back from enough people. Any stragglers will be added in as we go. Cheers!

James,
Here was my characters original concept for making his way to Riddleport(which with the catacombs seems to still make sense for Sandpoint). I ran a RotRL game so I know Sandpoint pretty well and can definitely flesh out the background further, but I figure this would give you an idea where I am coming from.
Also, I had whipped up an oracle as an alternate for the original game in case we didn't have someone to heal. If we don't hear from the cleric I'd be happy to bring them in instead for party balance.

Morzane |

Morzane here. Morzane was abandoned by his mother once she discovered his abilities. Now, he travels alone with his familiar, Bones. He has come to Riddleport to find money and adventure.
As a side note, I don't know Riddleport very well which works for my character.
As a witch, I do have some healing ability.

Ghorum Kraak |

I was thinking of giving this one a pass, but I think now I'll stick around. With Mr. Martin running it, I think it'll be a blast.
A game run by a Paizo RPG Superstar?! Hell yea!!
Anyway, Ghorum is pretty much a guide from Janderhoff that ended up in Sandpoint with a caravan delivering goods. With the journey becoming more dangerous, capable guides are finding easy employment in the region.
Ghorum is currently in town waiting for the next caravan to leave, so he is taking a well earned "holiday" in town, spending a few coins and generally enjoying himself. With talk of catacombs and such, he might even stick around to see if he can do some treasure hunting...

Ghorum Kraak |

Uh-oh, them's some high expectations to fill...
My apologies, but my work is a little busier than I previously thought, so the first post will go up over the weekend, so I have time to make it better.
No worries...and no pressure! I think I speak for all here when I say "Thank you" for taking up the reigns...
Besides, I'm sure many of us are rather familiar with "real life"...
Thanks again!

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

I had a lovely one, actually. Relaxing and fun to watch the little one open presents.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

I think we have a missing player. Ravenath, aka Kromoro has not posted in over a week. I've checked his aliases and it seems to be the same. I'm going to give him until tomorrow, then recruit for another player. If he comes back, he's welcome to rejoin. Five players won't be an issue. Any thoughts?

Jansen Sable |

Well, we have a witch a ranger and a rogue so a cleric would be a great addition.
As for party personality, we really haven't given ourselves a chance to get to know each other yet, but I don't think any of us are too close minded in others we would work with. All three of us are chaotic if that helps at all, two are neutral and one is good though we all seem to have good-ish tendencies. And for being chaotic we sure did run to the deputy pretty quickly to report a crime.

I just read our DMs most recent post in the IC thread and my first thought was way metagamy but I thought it was funny so I figured I'd put it here.
"A chopper is one of those bigger weapons the goblins use, not some murderer who is going to kill us all, right guys? Thats what we are talking about here, right?"

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Beckett, here's the initial character creation guidelines:
Characters begin at 1st level
25 Point Buy for Attributes
Max HP at first level
Max gold at first level
Any race or class from Core or APG accepted.
Any alignment except evil is appropriate.
I think it still works fine. Feel free to play whatever you want. Since this is a game in reaction to the players, and not a pre-determined module or adventure, I'll tailoring it to suit the characters, so a four player party balance isn't strictly necessary.
Jansen, nice quote! I laughed at that.

Beckett, he looks fine. Now, I'll just need to know if you're from Sandpoint, or if not, why you're in Sandpoint for the Longest Day Festival.

I was origonally from Cheliax, but with the Thune uprising, my family was vocally oppossed to the countries unholy alliance and was quickly exhiled. They travelled fast to Taldor, hoping to maintain some of their families honor and standing, but fast learned that Taldor was no longer the bastion of real honor and glory that they had believed. Many of his close family had either died or vanished while leaving Cheliax, most defending the family, but others to outright assassination ot poltics.
As we (the family), contimplated our next move in Taldor, a group of Hellknights and bount hunters arrived and took all but a few of my family. They where sold into slavery, and as I quested to rescue them, we where aided by some slave liberaters of Andoran. They helped my mother and the others escape, and afterwards, I joined them. I now sk both to become an Eagle Knight, and to form another faction within, (the Raven Knights), which will focus more on religious rights, fighting Undead, and watching for moral and spiritual corruption within Andoran.
I have come to Sandpoint seeking allies and glory towards that end, and also to spread the political freedom of Andoran to others.

Our Mysterious Benefactor |

Beckett, I'll probably bring you in on Monday. I have a germ of an idea on how. Which is better than I usually have! ;)
