1336: This is About Writing This

OK, that was excellent, and an extremely clever title.

I think Elan isn't the only one feeling better. However, Roy isn't feeling better...

Poor Roy! I love it though for the pure slapstick appeal. Oh so meta. :)

Elan: Strictly speaking, you don't need a bard to get you through the climax!

Haley: I know honey, but I appreciate you being there anyway.

I want to know what mood Serini was in when she set that trap up.

1337: Limited Time Offer

Rich didn't do anything special for the number AFAICT, but I suppose that particular dialect has long since vanished into history.

The interactions between characters were about what you'd expect.

On a side note, last week Rich shared to backers a long delayed Kickstarter reward from years ago, the OOTS Dim Sum spoof of the Dark Sun setting. 25 pages - which I haven't gotten around to yet, but will over the holidays.

EDIT: It also seems to be for sale for $5 if you weren't a KS backer way back when.

Grand Lodge

Oh dang, I should check my pledge and see if I got that.

I like the the reaction that Nale's alliance with the Order garnered. :)

Belkar is still Evil.

Thankfully, IMO.

I figure I have no grounds for sneering at Kids These (or even Those) Days when I look at some (some? Make that most) of the things I thought were cool when I was much younger.

Re the timing, though, I ran across something elsewhere on social media a month ago: the span of time between now and the original "I can has cheezburger" meme is the same as between that meme and the fall of the Berlin Wall.

There's definitely still some things about the early internet I look back on fondly and think are sad that they've been lost to the annals of its history and the changing landscape of the web.

Leet is not one of them.

Adventure Path Charter Subscriber; Pathfinder Rulebook, Starfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Roleplaying Game, Starfinder Society Subscriber

Yes. Leave leet in the dustbin with jive (including, "fo'shizzle", what I consider the rapper-/Snoop-popularized redux).

Jargons suck, no matter how "cool" they may seem at the time.

Jargon has a place, but it's usually in the space of "field-specific language" where words are created or repurposed for use in the specific context of a working field, niche interest, or complex subjects.

For example "code blue" means one thing to a soldier, and another thing to a physician.

That said, I wouldn't call leet and jive jargon, they're more slang or argot, or just culturalized linguistics which kinda overlaps with both, especially the latter.

Yeah, it was very surprising to get that. I'd love to see an updated version of the stretch rewards progress tracker that he used to send out. Not that I'm bitter, or anything, but he's put so much importance on fulfilling those rewards (and good for him) that I'm really curious what's still left to go.

1338: Word for Word

Durkon gets to be the clever one this time.

Also, I'm not sure why Belkar seems to be affected in the last panel.

LOL "Which color!' That's pretty awesome of Durkon.

I don’t see the doubling effect on Belkar, so I assume his alignment and protection is working normally.

Yes. The aura around Belkar is (still) from the protection from evil effect he activated when Nale arrived ("Reruns." "Ngnnh.").

Interestingly, Serini doesn't seem to be affected either (but Sunny is).

My guess is that she's a higher level than Nale is.

All I know is Nale ALMOST won that bluff. ;)

My guess is that she's a higher level than Nale is.

Could be, but I thought it was simply her being Neutral rather than Good.

Just looked up the reference for what Nale meant that he "owed" Durkon: https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0859.html

I thought of it immediately, but took a few minutes to find the right page.

Also, V and Blackwing know that Sabine is working for the same three fiends that took possession of their souls last time. They should have remembered that, as it's definitely pertinent information.

Fromper,

Yeah but also let's be honest, Sabine is slightly more loyal to Nale than the Directors...but only SLIGHTLY!

Blasphemy hits all Non-Evil equally.

Serini being Evil seems quite possible.

But why does Minrah, lower level Dwarven Cleric of Thor, seem also unaffected (no double image) ?

Also it was interesting to see both Paladins not attacking the fiends while the OotS was entering the fray.

Always forget blasphemy/holy word/etc don't treat neutral easier.

As for the paladins not attacking fiends on sight, it's because they're not Lawful Stupid, which has already been well established. I'm sure they'll join the battle, but they weren't in on the OoTS immediately knowing the tell from what color was the god question necessarily and therefore weren't in the surprise round.

1339: Weak Interaction

Well, that doesn't look good.

That explains why Minrah didn't have the double images in #1338, I guess.

And "-oh, thog lost count" is so on brand.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Not the best combat outlook for the gang, but it's not like these are A listers anyway...

I do love the fact we get clarity about what happen with Minrah.

Also Belker has Saiyan glow! ;)

So is Belkar going to go out in a blaze of sudden heroic glory? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON ORDER OF THE Z!

Liberty's Edge

Serini is definitely Evil then.

Focus fire is such a tried and true tactic.

Or, she's a higher level than the caster, Raven. Either way, not going to be sticking her neck out I think.

Orthos,

I fully expect Belker to go to SS II. ;)

Yeah Serini is a veteran adventurer from an epic campaign. She's definitely higher level than Nale's CL.

1340: Down the Chute

Still not looking very good for Our Heroes.

HA! Good old ICC to muck things up some more! I love these guys! Though it is looking pretty bad for our heroes.

It is looking below the midway point for our heroes.

That's two. Is the one remaining one of the longer ones, or the short one from the necromancer?

I thought that was three, Orthos...

It looks as if Roy is about to do something to Nale while Nale is distracted by gloating at V...

And Serini might have something up her sleeve.

Liberty's Edge

I think there is a Stranger Things reference in the chute monster.

Lol! I love the running commentary by Sabine about frail humans and their organs. :)

"easy to open, tho."

As Sabine and Thog double team Durkon.

It might be more likely that this will be Belkar's "sacrifice" (as he looks like he's the only OOtS member that's close to 100%).
