When you fire off your submission, for any round, let it go.
Take a break from the boards if need be, read some other fiction, watch Ultimate Avengers, play Call of Duty, whatever. Don't obsess about your submission, don't look back (You *can* look forward, heck you might come up with a neat round X entry and even if you don't make it, flesh it out, it's good practice *and* since you didn't submit it, since it's OGL, you can put it out later). Second guessing yourself will put you in a tizzy.

Or, after you have sent off your entry, draft up a couple of submission queries for Wolfgang Baur at Kobold Quarterly and send them off. This contest is not the only means of getting into the freelancing business and for those who truly, truly want to write RPG material don't limit yourself to a once-a-year, shot-at-the-moon attempt.
Edit: That is not to say that this is not a great opportunity. It is! But its not the only opportunity.

I would call this round 1.5. I will send some in before RPG superstar. And hopefully have another one between 28 Dec & 18 Jan. :)
Good advice Matt :)

Yeah, but that requires *shudder* Maps!
