I’ve noticed recently that a lot of people seem to be making double posts (the same post shows up twice). Today this problem has struck me – all the posts I’ve made in the last few hours* have taken an unusually long time to post (at least several minutes). When they do show up, the same post shows up twice, time stamped from a few seconds to a few minutes apart. If I try to delete one of the posts it doesn’t seem to let me.
Just thought you guys might want to know about this if you weren’t aware.
*except this one apparently.

There has been an uptick in duplicate posts recently. This is because of a change we made to the posting system to try to reduce 'eaten posts'. Now, even if you have multiple tabs open or take a very long time composing your post, the post should go to the correct thread, and not disappear. The side effect of this, however, is that if you use your back button and resubmit the post, or your browser decides to retry the post when the site is slow or your connection is poor, the post will post twice.
We're aware of the problem, but we haven't decided what to do about it just yet. In the meantime, if you see duplicate posts, please flag them as double posts and they'll be taken care of.
