Relaunch of The Munsters in the works

Television

just saw it on the ic2 website. It's either going to be great or it's gonna tank like the horrible 80's crap where marylin dressed like cindy lauper( love ya cindy but your style is your own)

Anyone else excited about it or am I the only munster fan?

Liberty's Edge

I think it all hinges on who they cast to play Grandpa.

WHY???

Just...

WHY???

I loved the Munsters as a kid, but the concept worked mainly because it was a product of its times. It was a great spoof of monster movies and classic sitcoms that ran at the time, and complemented the Addams Family well. Putting it on the air now just fails to capture any of that and makes it into a cheap remake.

Exactly, nowadays nobody looks twice at a 7 foot green guy with bolts in his neck. The shock value of monsters in suberbia can't compete with real life.

It'll be tough to replace Al Lewis or Fred Gwynne for that matter.

The Exchange

Really? An all caps title, how annoying is that?

I always liked the Munsters better than The Addam's Family, but I'm not sire if this isn't to dated to be anything but lame.

Depends on how they do it. It could be awesome, or it could suck. I see more Neighbors From Hell being better than this.

Maybe if the producers decided to update the concept (horror movies) rather than the characters (Frankenstein's monster, vampires...) it might make more sense.

So assemble a family with Kayako (from the Grudge) or Samara (from The Ring) and add Freddy Kruegger and the Mothman and, oh, Hoffman (the apprentice maniac from Saw). And stick them in a "Friends"-like setting. And watch the hi-jinks ensue.

IT might be good if they give it a very dark sense of humor. Lily and grandpa could have comical misadventure trying to feed. Eddie could get loose on a full moon and the rest of the family have to track him down before he kills and spreads the werewolf curse. Make Marylin a sucubus and give her a new boyfriend each week. Make Herman a zombie instead of a golum and have him try to work at a regular job where he has to fight off his urges to eat his co-workers brains.
