OK,
So my campaign has outgrown the adventure path and is progressing very well. they are finishing up Rivers run red.
I'm having some issues wraping my head around the Noble Titles in Brevoy...Note I'm being too detailed I know lol.
All the Noble lords are Lords( Got it)
Hannis Drelev is a Baron
Kingmaker PC starts out as Baron then Duke and eventually King.
Are there any other Barrons in Brevoy?
Are any of the noble houses considered Barons and responsible for defending their house lands?
We are doing some good court Intrigue and was just wandering about that.
Thx for replies

You can call the different positions what you like but for cohesion I'd say it's best to use the ones the PC's kingdom is using. Makes sense that they brought their social concepts with them from Brevoy.
I'm still trying to figure out how the swordpact fit into the social structure. Do they only have power in Restov after they opposed Choral? I think a guide to Brevoy would have been more useful than the River Kingdoms but James has said they never anticipated that so many people would feel so strongly tied to Brevoy that it needed one.

On the same lines, I am going to spend a bit more time on the launch of the expedition. I am still finalizing details of their main "contact" in Brevoy, but my current plan is to have him be an aged swordlord, and use Brinian from the NPC Guide as his ward/champion. Further, I am toying with Brinian's older brother being Hannis Drelev.
But, the question then is... have ALL swordlords adopted the Aldori surname? I think my older NPC will have done so, but not the brothers Drelev. Would the older NPC go by "Lord _________ Aldori, Swordlord of Restov" or for brevity's sake, simply "__________ Aldori, Swordlord of Restov"?
Just looking for thoughts and ideas.

In our campaign, only one of our party has official title beside the Baron/Duke/King himself (and his NPC bride), and that's our very own Aldori trained swordsman and general, Lord General Marcus Muri. In RP key NPCs refer to some characters as "Lord" or "Lady" but it's basically fluff. I joked at table that I would like my cleric to be known as Emperess, but everyone laughed...
I've always wanted to be a Baroness myself, but then I watched a good deal of G.I. Joe as a child. Is of course, nothing but fluff since our party has proven that you can kidnap and murder nobles without cause, but... you know, it would be nice to get a little love.

Once they actually join the ranks of the swordlords they adopt the name so starting out they'd have their own but when they are inducted then they take the name Aldori.
I'd say swordlord of Restov is the title so no lord in front of the name. Also might not be that important as long as people respond with the correct level of respect to their last name being Aldori.
Brings up a new question though. What are the rules with regards to swordlords holding other titles?

In our campaign, one of the players persuaded the rest that their new government should be a Goetocracy (rule by Witches), and put an old npc Witch-ally they knew in charge (giving them the benefit of a Baron who periodically reincarnates his courtiers when they get their silly selves killed adventuring). The upshot is the aristocracy of their Kingdom are called "Witchlords" (a nod to the Swordlords of Restov, I think), and require anyone of real status in the kingdom to have a Witches Patron.
Though this cements the self-proclaimed Candlemere Coven in firm control of the young kingdom (they even wrote up a constitution, so they are a legal feudal goetocracy), it has established a two tier government with the Witch characters in court being members of an "inner-court" & other as part of the "outer-court."
We have also a growing tradition of landed knights being minor lords, and the odd arcane knight (one Magus, one witch/combat multiclass working towards Eldritch Knight) setting themselves up as "Witchknights."
