I like this ability. The paladin in our group took the same basic ability rather than the special mount. However, this one comes with a little clause about the concentration checks, which again is fine with me.
My question comes when a magus gives his weapon the dancing property, or it already has the property.
Bonding with a weapon in this way is not without danger.
A magus that is bonded to a weapon must have the weapon
in hand to cast spells from the magus spell list; otherwise
he must make a concentration check to cast such spells.
The DC of this check is equal to 20 + the spell’s level.
Dancing: As a standard action, a dancing weapon can be loosed to attack on its own. It fights for 4 rounds using the base attack bonus of the one who loosed it and then drops. While dancing, it cannot make attacks of opportunity, and the person who activated it is not considered armed with the weapon. The weapon is considered wielded or attended by the creature for all maneuvers and effects that target items. While dancing, the weapon shares the same space as the activating character and can attack adjacent foes (weapons with reach can attack opponents up to 10 feet away). The dancing weapon accompanies the person who activated it everywhere, whether she moves by physical or magical means. If the wielder who loosed it has an unoccupied hand, she can grasp it while it is attacking on its own as a free action; when so retrieved, the weapon can't dance (attack on its own) again for 4 rounds.
When you activate the dancing ability, you no longer hold the weapon. I assume that the intent was not that, when using dancing, the magus would need to make concentration checks for those 4 rounds. If it was, then ignore this post. If it was not, a special clause noting that a dancing weapon is considered to be held for the purposes of the concentration checks would be nice.

Hmm, interesting. Well, at least by the time you have the ability to do dancing (if you get it right away), the Concentration check shouldn't be too bad. In fact, at level (25 - your Int bonus), you make the check even on a 1.
