Looking at the beautiful book and how it glows, Amar sighs. Looking above to pugwampi, he takes a look at the be book once more and then try to communicate with it
If you would like to ... make a deal? This book seems to be precious for you, but would you understand it? If you understand it, I could teach you in exchange if I can read it? If not, I could tell you what it is and tell you how to use, again for the exchange that I can read it. I require only 2 days for this. However, there is also some other things... we must do and I could offer my service, if you could tell us about this temple and what creatures are here?
Hale Caress
Hale stares up at the little pugwampi furiously, "What?! Your flea-ridden sniveling little wretch want to command me?" She snatches the box from Amar's hands and screams up: "IF YOU WANT THIS! YOU COME AND GET IT BEFORE I BREAK IT!!" And lifts the chest threatening to smash it on the floor. Intimidate 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Reflex 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Initiative 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Surprised by this, Amar attempts to jumps out of the way. An idea crosses his mind and during his moving, he prepares to cast Cause Fear.
Azh clinging on his robe, watches all this with amusement gushing through empathic link
Gander Longstalks
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Gander is caught by surprise from the collapse and is partially buried by the debris.
When he's able to shove it all off him and the dust clears he looks furious. Dropping his staff, he draws his axe and begins moving toward the pugwampis.
Not sure what the full effects of the failed Reflex save is going to be, but he plans to move closer and draw his greataxe as part of his move and will rage when he's finally close enough to attack.

The pudgy pugwampi descends amidst a flurry of debris, anything from lumps of wood to rather less pleasant substances.
Amar jumps clear, Azh clinging tightly to his sleeve and moving up to his shoulder as he feels his master drawing in power in preparation to cast a spell.
As for the rest, caught in the hail of debris:
Gander: 1d4 ⇒ 1 damage, and a grot-besmeared piece of paper over your head.
Hale: 1d4 ⇒ 2 damage, and some nasty sticky wet slurry all down your front.
Romo: 1d4 ⇒ 2 damage, and a shower of small brown lumps all over you, the origins of which you don't really want to think about given the smell!
And the pudgy pugwampi had better roll some dice as well:
Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 - he lands on his feet, unscathed.
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
As everyone shakes off the rubbish and advances on him, he grips his warhammer and yells, "I am King Moknokk... look on me and despair!!!".
Looks like he's going for the kneecaps.
Actions please... order is Amar, King Moknokk, Hale, Romo, Gander (post in any order, I'll sort it out in the morning!)
Gander Longstalks
Growling with fury, Gander launches himself at the King and swings his greataxe in a large swooping arc.
Gander Rages and Charges: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
I'm assuming that you need two rolls for attacks and damage. I'm also assuming that a charge is possible: If not, the attacks will be -2 and his AC will be 15. If he does get a charge action, AC will be 13 instead.
Panish Valimer
Hale's manic grin turns to fire as she screams blue murder at the pugwampi. Her rage fires her on as she moves behind the runt into flanking with Gander and slices her dagger into the small body.
Attack 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28 damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack, confirm 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9 damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Attack, roll 2 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20 damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Thank you, Amar
Amar utters some truly horrible-sounding words as he releases his spell...
King Moknokk had better start his turn with a saving throw!
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9 - ooops, he's frightened, and at -2 for everything.
He looks round wildly, but cannot see a clear path to run, and grips his warhammer even more tightly. He swings at Gander 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7, missing miserably.
Hale, however, does not. Sliding up to the side whilst Moknokk was concentrating on Gander, she slices with a wicked-looking dagger and blood spurts from the pugwampi's side. He howls with pain and indignation.
Romo is not far behind, but fails to connect.
Gander is likewise unsuccessful.
Next round, please - I'll resolve Monday unless everyone's posted earlier, as it's the weekend
Hale Caress
Attack 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 = 26 damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Attack, reroll 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28 damage 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
o.O WHY?!?! I keep rolling critical threats against those stupid pugwampi and it doesn't matter because of stupid rerolls -_- damn these buggers are annoying!
Hale's anger becomes palpable as she eviscerates the pugwampi king with her dagger, leaving a thick strand of blood gushing out of his shoulder.
Rage rounds used: 4 / 6
Gander Longstalks
I'm kind of trying to figure out how Gander missed, since both his rolls were over 20 (23 and 28 respectively with flanking).
Gander growls with frustration and swings his greataxe again, still flanking with Hale.
First Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23
Second Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 2 = 17
First Damage Roll: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Second Damage Roll: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
AC is now 15.
"Die, you dirty little runt!"

Apologies for neglecting you - alas, the glut of job interviews did not result in employment :( And a question for you all: What do you want to do over Christmas? Shall we carry on or would folks like a defined break to allow you to attend your festivities and family gatherings without having to worry about a game?
Megan Robertson
|
All right, folks. I've been thinking over the break, and have decided that it's time to level you all up!
CONGRATULATIONS! You're all second level. Sort yourselves out, then we can carry on exploring this place. Hit points: you may choose to take one-half your hit die, or take the chance of rolling it instead.
Hale Caress
HP roll 1d12 ⇒ 10
EDIT:
Updated profile and site; I realized that Hale has been running around with 1 skill point too few (4 instead of 5, which she should have for being 4(barbarian) + 0(favored class) + 1(human) + 0(intelligence)). I've made her more diplomatic, befitting someone that was brought up at court.
Noteworthy additions:
- rage power: lesser beast totem
- diplomacy ranks
- knowledge (nobility) rank

Hale stands, panting. Her eyes are slightly glazed over as the battle washes over her in her mind. After a little while she shakes lose, her eyes filtering down to her hands which are now bloodied slightly. She stares down to the carcass, its arm ripped and torn by what can only have been claws. She stares to the dagger now lying on the floor and picks it up. Her fingers flex and the ruined temple sees her hide a wicked smile.

Right, let's move on...
You're exploring the Old Monastery...
The chapel area seems to be cleared out of pugwampi now.
What next?
Search amongst the debris to see if there's anything worth having? Open King Moknokk's box? Explore elsewhere?

Gander: You get down on your knees to root around. Yeuch! Some quite vile debris...
At the center of a grisly jumble of gnoll skulls, nestled within a mostly dried excised gnoll lung, you find an uncut garnet. You also find the torn-out pages of a copy of The Birth of Light and Truth (Sarenrae's holy book) strewn about the altar, which has been smeared with excrement. There are also assorted religious objects, loose coins, and random trinkets lying around amidst less-collectable debris (unless you like body parts, that is!).
Hale: The box you are examining is a small, padded box with a simple clasp - the sort of thing that, if clean, might make a nice jewellry box. Inside, there is a silver ring engraved with a pattern of feathers and a tiny box containing a rolled-up parchment. The box is affixed to a leather cord, looks like you can tie it onto something.
Khismia, Rose-golden Kismet
Once Khismia realises the pages are from The Dawnflower’s holy text you can see anger boiling up in her littler frame, as she forces her eyes shut, trying to steady herself as she mumbles: "They probably did not know what the book was about, they do not know Her kindness, they did not mean to insult…"
With those words Khismia opens her eyes and looks at the scene, now surprised that the text survived long enough in these ruins for the creatures to desecrate it. Could this have been done intentionally here in her once holy place? She also look at the other possible religious items lying about to see what their significance is here.
Knowledge Religion (identifying the other religious objects): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Sense Motive (does the blasphemy look intentional): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
