Not to stomp or bash, but: a lot of things are hard to understand about Azh's attacks (the scorpion familiar). Unfortunately the Pathfinder Bestiary only gives an indication that a tiny scorpion is CR1/4 and lets you work things out from there; the Legacy of Fire guide does mention to use the stats from the Monsters Manual. The comparison between 3.5 and PF versions of the large scorpion is identical except for a +2 Con bonus for PF, as well as that PF considers both stinger and claws to be primary natural attacks (thus increasing the effective power of the Pathfinder scorpions). Using the same modifications to convert the tiny 3.5 scorpion to tiny PF should be pretty accurate.
1. As a tiny scorpion it will provoke entering the pugwampi squares as it has too little reach. (This can be mitigated by throwing Azh to a pugwampi with a bow out - assuming pugwampi don't have a natural attack.)
2. In Pathfinder the scorpions claws and stinger all run on the same attack bonus; I think it works out to +2 for all 3 natural attacks for Azh.
3. The scorpion does not have pounce - I cannot see it being able to make a full attack action. The act of throwing it can maybe be interpreted as a form of charge, but it definitely does not constitute a "no movement thus I can do a full-attack". The scorpion would get 1 natural attack in that situation.
4. The natural armor bonus for a tiny scorpion is 2 - though the familiar bonus of +1 still applies after that.
5. A familiar has half the hitpoints of its master; Azh therefore has 4hp max.

Well, of course thats true, but then different GM´s may decide differently. Some of the actions are clearly defined and how to perform, but... well, I will like to see what Megan has to say about this. Maybe he can come up with something more reasonable.
However, with range attack I believe it should negate the "tiny" AoO. I agree though on "full attack" action, but then Megan can take the stinger or one claw attack from there. Max HP you are right. Got that thing wrong
Khismia, Rose-golden Kismet
I was just waiting to see if Amar changes his mind with the new info, as that might influence what I do, but here I go
Khismia will move to the side, trying to stay out of combat and safe as she keeps a close eye on the fighting making sure to be able to react if someone gets hurt. Her attention only wanders for a short while as she watches Azh fly through the sky.
Khismia will be in full defensive

Gander hurls a sling bullet and curses as it falls short of its mark. Bad luck...
Hale flails around with her knife but fails to connect... bad luck.
As for the Pugwampis - the ones on the rafters at the far side suddenly find their footing even more precarious, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 and are too preoccupied with trying not to share the fate of their colleague who fell to the ground messily to fire any arrows this round!
Romo DM assumption he'll carry on attacking... 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6.. but his swing goes wide of the target. Perhaps he was distracted by the scorpion whizzing past his nose!
Amar launches Azh up towards the balcony. Limbs and tail/stinger flailing, the little scorpion is quite a surprise addition to the melee up there. Catching one claw in a pugwampi's tattered clothing, the stinger lashes out, plunging into the unfortunate creature's flesh. Save 1d20 ⇒ 14. The pugwampi says something uncomplimentary about poor Azh's parentage and tries to poke him with his dagger... 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 Both Azh and Amar feel the pain, but its a mere scratch against the scorpion's chitin! 1hp damage, Azh
Khismia remains alert but for the present is unmolested down on the floor of the chapel.
Next round please - as usual, actions & relevant die rolls in any order, then I'll resolve it
Gander Longstalks
"Cursed swine," Gander growls and simply reloads his sling, flinging it at the pugwampis he'd missed a moment ago. Despite his irritation at how hard they could be to hit, he didn't consider them worth the effort that the others were going to.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Hale Caress
The anger in Hale's blood eases back again. Her outrage calmed again, though the passing of the rage - even this short - left her slightly breathless. With a snarl she moves to eviscerate the pugwampi before her stepping to take advantage of Romo's attack (flanking).
Attack 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 - 2 = 19 damage 1d4 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 2 = 2

Amar looks at the situation and thinks hastily what to do. Looking around and trying to find a something more useful, but sighing for the lack of ability to do anything.
Focusing and then firing another magical shot of Ray of Frost against pugwampis. Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 & Damage 1d3 ⇒ 1
Mean time Azh keeps attacking now the pugwampis near Romo and Hale, Attacking and striking with his claws and stinger
Claw 1 attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 & damage 1d2 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3 [min 1 damage]
Claw 2 attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 & damage 1d2 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2 [min 1 damage]
Sting attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20& damage 1d6 - 4 ⇒ (2) - 4 = -2 12 DC vs Fort safe [min 1 damage]
Confirm Crit: Claw 2 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 & damage 1d2 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3 [min 1 damage]
Amar: 9/9 hp, Azh: 3/4hp

Gander hurls another sling bullet, hitting a pugwampi square between the eyes. Poor beggar is already slithering around, that's the final straw and it plummets to the ground 20 feet below... *SPLAT*!!!
Hale succeeds in eviscerating her target pugwampi. Messy... and fatal :)
As for the Pugwampis - of the 3 on the balcony with Hale and Romo, one is using the remaining seconds of life to admire its own intestines. Another is discovering how tenacious scorpions can be, and the third decides absence of body beats presence of mind and begins scrambling away along the rafters...
The ones on the far side need, I reckon, to make an Acrobatics check, 1d20 ⇒ 8, and are a bit too preoccupied with hanging on - especially given their comrade's tumble - to even think about shooting arrows.
Romo aims a slash at the pugwampi who decided to scramble away, but drops his weapon. The fleeing pugwampi makes a rude noise (as in, Bronx cheer) as it goes.
Amar mutters, gesticulates and does a nice job of producing pugwampi popsicle. Meanwhile Azh clings on with one claw to his target, managing to sink his stinger in again, and that luckless pugwampi had better attempt his Fortitude save 1d20 ⇒ 19.
Meanwhile, Khismia watches the fun from below.

Gander - nice shot, you now have the opportunity to see how a pugwampi 'does' with an arrow stuck where he sits down... the answer is, he yells something I couldn't possibly post on a nice polite board, clutches his backside with both hands completely forgetting the need to hold on to something, and tumbles ungracefully 20' straight down, screaming all the way to the *SPLAT*!
Hale - you decide to take a look around. This is the choir balcony. The rotting wooden choir stalls are inscribed with religious symbols, but the whole structure is in terrible shape and literally crumbles to the touch. The rope that supports the gnoll-skull chandelier in the middle of the chapel is tied off to the southwestern rafter near the edge of the balcony, you could probably reach it if you wanted to do so.
Pugwampis - apart from those mentioned elsewhere, have fled.
Romo - you give chase and manage to grab the pugwampi with the hand that isn't holding the glaive. It wriggles but cannot get loose. Its language is quite unrepeatable, however! Oh, and it has VERY bad breath!
Amar - you call Azh who scuttles to the edge of the balcony then hurls himself down to your waiting hands. He looks up at you, head cocked to one side, and you feel this wave of satisfaction via your empathic link.
Khismia is still watching the fun.
OK, just about done with this combat.
Amar Furzen

Amar is moving closer to ladder and watches how Hale is attempting to jump gnoll skull chandelier.
Patting Azh and whispering You are doing nicely, boy as he held him gently. Keeping eye open for surprises, Amar thinks how all of this would affect... Hm... need to somehow keep eye out for everything. Can´t help if she is crashing down. Huoh, sometimes I wish I had more strenght in my arms
Megan Robertson

Gander, what do you want to know?
The pugwampi you are examining is about 2' tall and you guess he weighs a little over 10 pounds. He's dressed in dirty rags, otherwise being covered in coarse hair of a greenish mousy brown shade with a dog-like snout and large semi-erect ears.
Oh, and he's crawling with fleas.
Gander Longstalks
Just a dagger, a rather crude and clumsy one, and 6 copper pieces, one of which looks as if it had been gnawed upon.
*laugh* Okay, never mind.
Gander looks at the pugwampis corpse with distaste and spits on it. "These things are like giant fleas on a Gnoll's backside!"
He glances back up to the rafters. "Are you lot done yet? We've got more to do."
Gander Longstalks
Rolling his eyes with disgust, Gander is careful to move away from the reach of the chandelier, focusing his attention to the remainder of the unexplored regions within the building as he does so.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Gander is focusing on the portion of the church south of where they're currently standing, trying to determine if there's any sign of danger waiting in that area.

Hm.. noticed that scorpion got tremorsense or maybe old special ability. not sure, but if yes= I guess Azh "using" it would be maybe yet viable or maybe later when we hit lvl 2-3. what you think Megan?
Amar looks up at Hale, who try to bring chandelier down. Sighing and muttering to himself - women and barbarians... irresponsible people.. - walks out of the possible way and make sure that he is not catching anything blood on his clothes. Least thing he would need is to get disease and get in bad condition.
Turning to Khismia and speaking loud enough for everyone to hear So, what is next plan? There might be more these creatures and would be good to get this place cleaned sooner than later. I still have my spells ready to use if needed
Khismia, Rose-golden Kismet
Khismia gasps as she sees Hale jump and dangle precariously from the atrocious chandelier. She runs closer to be ready to help Hale when she falls, ignoring that Hale shouted out a warning “Please be careful up there!” , watching Hale carefully as she also wants the chandelier to be destroyed, though didn’t expect it to be done this way.
Megan Robertson

And the inevitable happens... with a creaking and a screeling of overstressed materials, the makeshift support disintegrates and Hale descends floorwards in a rain of debris, bones and general grot.
Hale: given that it's hanging quite low and sagging, I'm just going to hit you with 10' falling damage. Please make an Acrobatics check Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3, this will be subdual if you make a DC 15 Acrobatics check :)
Gander: All seems quiet to the south.
Hale Caress
Acrobatics 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Hale looks a little worse for wear, but oddly she's grinning with a slightly mad look in her eyes.
Amar - didn't you detect some magic earlier? I don't think you mentioned it to the rest of the characters, but there's bound to be one or two things somewhere around here.
Amar Furzen
|
Ah, true. I need to mention it... or keep it for myself :D
Looking at Hale crashing down with chandelier and taking some damage, he sights as he knew this was inevitable. Taking care of not stepping to any of that mess, Amar closes and try to find the glowing items from the mess, while speaking to other groups Hm... earlier when we came here, I did cast detec magic and apparently here is something magical. Need to confirm it though
Cast Detect Magic again and focus "3 rounds" as well determining what are they Spellcraft 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

Of course: Map Link
The chandelier & Hale have come down just about where that brown splodge is in the middle of the chapel floor.
Amar, it's not the chandelier but area A2b that indicated the presence of magic.
Gander Longstalks
That map link is very helpful. Thanks! Gander is going to move along toward the steps on the west end of A2, simply to keep an eye out for any danger coming from the areas of A1B or up at the top in that unexplored corner. He has his halfling sling staff at the ready, with a bullet already placed in the cup.

As Romo and Gander maintain overwatch, and Hale rubs her tail bone, Amar makes his way towards the altar.
Routing amongst the unpleasant debris, he finds a battered and torn book, beautifully illuminated, and a small padded chest. From above, a shrill voice screeches "Hoy, that's mine!"
