Anyone willing to give a technofeeb GM a quick guide on PbP?

Play-by-Post Discussion

Since I am without a gaming group at the moment...and it is becoming a long and painful moment...I have been thinking about trying a play by post here......only I have never done so before.

Can somebody get me direction? I have about a half-dozen games burning holes in my brain and no one to share them with.

There are various scattered treads that may help you. This one is particularly useful.

In general, what you do is decide what you want to run and how many players you want and head over to the Gamer Connection forum. Post with an outline of your game, system you plan to use, any special requirements (class restrictions, starting level and so on), sit back and await results.

A lot of posters are extremely helpful with specific queries and general advice - so feel free to ask.

Also, it might do for you to read a few PbPs (at least the first page or two) just to get a feel for how others handle them. I know everyone does them differently, so pick a style that suits you and run with it.

This does need to be moved to the discussion section as well.

As a side note (And keeping in line with the opening posters question) there are also things called "Shared stories",

One of which I had the great pleasure to be involved in some time ago. Sort of like a PbP, only not heavy on the rules and very heavy on the story telling and character development.

Here is a link to one.
