We're doing a 1-shot tonight. 10th level. 2 others are playing a Barbarian and a Human Cleric with Healing and Protection domains and a bunch of channeling feats.

What should I play? I'm thinking of maybe a ranger/rogue archer or maybe a rogue 3/wizard 3/arcane trickster 4.

In other games, I play a goliathy binder, a chaos gnome dragon shaman, and a dark whisper gnome ninja, so I want to play something different.

How about playing something that is not 3.5? An alchemist should cover a good mix of rogue and arcane, and round off the group. Or, as you suggested, an Arcane Trickster, since you don't have to play through the low levels where they are soooooo boooooooring.

And what the heck is a chaos gnome?

Dark Archive

chaos gnomes are in races of stone. they're gnomes that get a cha bonus

be an inquisitor.

Fighter6/Horizon Walker 4

get at least 14 or 16 Wis

and you can dimension door as a full BAB d10 fighter 5-6 times per day.

so use it to get the highground and ranged attack or use to grab both your buddies and make a quick get away or ddoor on the other side of the enemy to flank with your barb friend.

caster level for the ddoor would be 10 btw so you can bring both the cleric and barb with you if you wanted to.

dosen't even need to be fighter 6 btw could be anything you only need endurance and 6 ranks of knowlege geo to quailfy.

I went with a Half-Elf Ranger 10, archer, Skill Focus in Acrobatics to get that Legolas feel.

It turned out pretty cool.

The set up ended up being we were escaping down river from a BBEG, and dealing with the denizens on the river.....of which, I totally botched my Favored Enemy picks: magical beasts +4, monstrous humanoids +4, and humanoid (humans) +2.

The first fight, we're in this creepy widening of the river with a veritable forest of dead trees carved into totem poles. We get attacked by scrag (I ***KNEW*** I should have chosen humanoid (giant)!!!!!), and I leap out of our canoe and land on top of one of the giant 10 foot wide totem poles, getting ready to hail death from above.....except the top was open, so I fell right in!!!! Luckily there was a secret escape hatch in the hollowed out totem pole...

We fought 3 scrag, a naga, and some weird tree that kept acid arrowing us.

Then we travel down the river a bit and over a volcanic vent, so the water is all hot springy, and get attacked by 3 salamanders, a noble salamander chucking fireballs (YAY Evasion!), and a summoned HUGE fire elemental....that had to hop from rock to rock since they can't stand in water! Hahahaha!!!

I burned through 2 resist energy (acid and fire), 2 swift hastes (one that lasted 1 round against a displaced naga, the other lasted 2 rounds against the huge fire elemental), and a water walk.

Check the APG, there is a 3rd level spell called Instant enemy that alouds you to treat a target as your favored enemy. It should ease your pain.

Humbly,
Yawar

I didn't want to use any APG stuff yet bc the DM hasn't had a chance to look it over yet.

I DID use the Swift Haste spell from the 3.5 Spell Compendium. WOW! I really dig it. Swift action, Haste Self for 1d4 rounds, 2nd level. Not too shabby.
