Would a multi-classed sorcerer/wizard wearing a ring of wizardry have a level of spells doubled for both classes?

Sure why not? I mean, the poor multi-classing beggar has enough problems already, why not throw him a bone?

By RAW, I don't see why it wouldn't. In fact, it seems to explicitly state that it would. The better question is "why would anyone multiclass wizard with sorcerer?"

If you threw in a level of bard you'd get the bonus there, too!

And Now we have the Magus another arcane caster to think about.
Wizard/Magus goood or sucks socks?

Yep.

As for Sean FitzSimon's question, the only reason to multi class like that is if the DM is allowing the Ultimate Magus Prestige Class in Pathfinder.

Liberty's Edge

From what I gather, if you make a Wizard/Magus you get your Intelligence bonus spells for both classes too.
I don't see any reason to do that (unless you want to make a Eldritch Knigt and you prefer to dip 1 level of Magus for the martial weapons proficiency instead of 1 level as a figther.

Good god, this is some epic thread necro.

Wizard/Magus? I can see the potential for specific build concepts. I'd never dip more than 1-3 levels into wizard, but it could do a lot for a Magus looking to expand her utilitarian magic. In terms of optimization it's not really worth it, and might actually be better to go witch as there's less spell overlap- particularly at low levels.

Magus as an entry point into Eldritch Knight? I can see the benefits, but they're not great. Spell Combat could be potentially useful if your DM rules that the spells applicable for use are any that exist on the Magus spell list, not just spells from the Magus. Since the Magus tends to draw heavily from the Wizard list, it's fair to say that any overlap could in fact be subject to availability- making Magus/Wizard an excellent entry point into Eldritch Knight. This of course ignores the strongest aspects of either base class and glosses over the inherent weaknesses of EK. But that's neither here nor there.

You could now make the casting stat for the sorcerer Int, eliminating the Mad, giving you a hefty boost to the amount of lower level spells they have.

I knew there was a way to swap it to WIS, but INT? How's that now?
