None of those people were alive at the same time.
Machiavelli had been dead for about 150 years before Voltaire was born, Voltaire had been dead for ten years before Byron was born and Byron had been dead for twenty years before Nietzsche was born.
Was Voltaire anti-religious? Was Byron?

Alright, have you ever listened to Sabaton then? Actually, what kind of music DO you like? Seems the simple question to ask eh?
How many chainsaws do you need to juggle before it becomes impressive? Oh, to clarify, the chainsaws need to be running.
What do you do when a woman demands you shave despite you loving your beard?
If reading gives you power, and power corrupts, corruption is a crime and crime doesn't pay. Does it mean that if I read enough I'll get poor?

James,
In part 6 of Kingmaker, there is a back cover quest titled A Heroic Challenge, in which an "abrasive hero" named Aurex Thewson challenges the PCs to slay a dragon as he has done.
Knowing my PCs, they will likely say, "Well, since you killed a dragon, if we kill you, that makes us able to kill a dragon." In the likely event this scenario takes place, did anyone at Paizo ever stat up Aurex Thewson, or do you at least have an idea of class and level?
Nope. Not at all. That's your job as GM if you are unfortunate enough to have players who are more interested in killing questgivers than they are on going on quests in the first place.

Never listened to Sabaton either.
I've actually answered the question of "what kind of music do you listen to?" already on this thread, but it was a while back. The short version:Dead Can Dance
Pink Floyd
Movie Soundtracks
Philip Glass
Classical Music
Duran Duran
Juno Reactor
Raamstein
Nine Inch Nails
The Beatles
The Rolling Stones
Hybrid
How many chainsaws do you need to juggle before it becomes impressive? Oh, to clarify, the chainsaws need to be running.
One.
What do you do when a woman demands you shave despite you loving your beard?
Hasn't happened yet, but I suspect it'd be "You wanna shave it for me, then? I'm just lazy!"
If reading gives you power, and power corrupts, corruption is a crime and crime doesn't pay. Does it mean that if I read enough I'll get poor?
Yup!

Byron was an atheist. Voltaire could be either an agnostic or a deist depending on how you want to approach it. I assume you know the other two's positions.

And furthermore, just look at how the iPad changed things in less than a year's span. Three years from now in 2013, who knows how things might have further changed? I do suspect that it's only going to become easier to consolidate books onto electronic readers, and I do suspect that those readers are only going to become easier to use and more affordable. By the time 2013 rolls around... who knows WHAT kind of crazy technological advances we'll have?
Has Paizo given any more consideration to VTT-related products? Or how they can support the VTT market? Do you expect that market to eventually grow to the point where direct support from Paizo is likely?

James, I'm not sure if this has been asked already (I'm losing track), but have you ever played a game set in Ravenloft? Did you enjoy it if so?
I have. And while I quite enjoyed the horror aspect of the game, the heavy-handed role of boxed text and plot elements in most Ravenloft modules frustrated me. They were more like interactive novels than roleplaying games.

Virtual Tabletops are only going to become more important as access to the internet grows and becomes easier to get to. And we at Paizo understand and accept this. That's all I can really say at this point.

Paizo turns 10 next year, does it not?...
How epically big is that party going to be??
and how sweet are the 10 yr anniversary products going to be??
will the batch of cookies Llith creates be so amazingly awesome as to bring a temporary peace to all the planes and factions so that Demon, Devil, Angel, Elemental, Dragon, Undead etc can sit down and enjoy them??

Sertrous AP? Do you mean "Serpent's Skull?" Cause that's about Ydersius, not something that's WotC's intellectual property.
In any case, one thing that we really DON'T want is for each of the Book of the Damned installments to be symmetrical duplicates of each other's content. There's already enough similarities in the layout. I'd rather not have to be bound by what's in one book to put it into another book.
We didn't cover quasit companions because we had other things to talk about, basically.
Sorry about the Sertrous/Ydersius slip. It was Freudian. I had just started a Sertrous storyline in my campaign when you guys released Serpents Skull, so I ended up using your stuff to make my WotC inspired stuff better. No snark was intended.
On the Lords of Chaos thing - thanks for the reply. I totally get that. I was just curious really.

Next year is Paizo's 10th anniversary and Pathfinder's 5th anniversary. So I expect it to be a pretty big year for us.

No worries. I wrote the section on Sertrous in Elder Evils anyway, so it's all the same to me.

LOL. Fair enough - I suspected as much. Its a really brilliant concept. When I found out the subject of Serpent's SKull I was absolutely elated. What I am actually doing is running the entirety of Elder Evils in one campaign (minus Zargon actually, but plus Shothragot) - as in all nine are occurring simulataneously.
It is ENORMOUSLY time consuming to plan and prepare; I was fearing I had bitten off more than I could chew and then Serpent's Skull came out and literally cut my prep time by a full ninth!

Do you have a favorite animal familiar for any wizard characters you may or may not have played?
I've only really ever played one wizard character, and he died 2 sessions into the campaign and got replaced by a MUCH better character. I've never really been a fan of how 3rd edition wizards had to "pay to play" their class.
In any case, that dead wizard, Sokoro, had a lizard familiar. Which is probably why I gave Seoni a lizard familiar, now that I think of it.

With the hypothetical million dollars from an earlier question, you mentioned a boat.
What kind of boat if cost were no object? (e.g. sailboat, speedboat, etc)
Something big enough to go out on the ocean and go fishing from. Not a sailboat, in any event, and too big to be a speedboat.
Honestly if money were no object, I'd probably buy a couple boats. Which would also mean having to buy a truck strong enough to tow them now and then, a boat trailer, and probably a house with a boathouse.

It seems a new Jurrasic Park game will be released soon. However this game will only be available to computer gamers. As a general advocate for dinosaurs, do you know why they seem to have an aversion to console gaming?
Nope. Although the first console game I ever owned was the Jurassic Park fighting game... so I'm not sure how accurate that claim might be...
And anyway, as I recall, that JP game is being developed for PC and Mac simultaneously, so no skin off my back! :)

Game where I died on the river level far too many times...

Seoni has a lizard? Has it ever been in any of the artwork?
Looking through the iconic stats, I also see that Seltyiel has a bat. How come Droogami has gotten all the good animal companion/familiar art so far? Is it just because he is cooler than a bat or lizard? Will Feiya's fox get ignored? I hope not, given how important the familiar is to a witch. What about Alain's mount?
Give the other animals some love too!

James, which would you rather be??
A high ranking Decepticon or a high ranking Cobra agent??
Ignore for a moment how easily each of these groups get beat, due to silly 80s morality.
Personally, while it would be badass to be a giant, transforming machine of destruction, I think it would be more fun to be a Cobra agent. They have some freakin cool stuff they invent and create, TONS of money to play with and connections throughout all levels of society. plus the Dreadnoks, who are BADASS

The Marvel comics for both of those franchises made the bad guys actually plausibly dangerous. Hell, I think the initial Transformers mini-series ended with a few Autobots basically taking ALL the fuel from the remaining to go fight the Decepticon's in a final battle...which they BARELY won. And then Shockwave came and blasted all the survivors of that battle straight to hell.

Dear James,
Could you share which sub-domains Besmara gets? I've been itching to build a Inquisitor of Besmara and would like what choices I'd have.
Protean (she does actually sail on the Maelstrom, after all), Deception, Thievery, Blood, Oceans, Storms would be a guess. Or should she have Tactics over Thievery?

Ya, i know how baddass both groups are in the comics, especially in the more recent relaunches. However, I don't want to assume anybody has read said comics.

I'd favour Tactics over Storms, to be honest. :p
This isn't that hard. Figure out which domains Besmara has, then look at the chart to see which sub-domain matches.
The whole point why I am asking is to not have houserule be overruled by the Inner Sea Campaign Guide when it comes out. ^^

Its not a houserule. The APG lists which subdomains go with each main domain. Therefore, Besmara's subdomains would be those that match her normal domains. If she has War, the two-subdomains of War would not be a houserule.

By that token, she should have 11 subdomains, 2 or 3 per regular domain, except none of the core gods are listed in the APG with that many. They all have six subdomains, selected from the ones associated with their 5 regular domains. Example:
Zon-Kuthon - (Regular Domains) - Darkness, Death, Destruction, Evil, Law - (Subdomains) - Catastrophe, Devil, Loss, Murder, Night, Undead
Now as far as Besmara having the Storms subdomain, well, if she doesn't, she would have zero subdomains from Weather, and I wanted to give her at least one, so it was either Storms or Seasons, and Seasons makes no sense at all.

What's the best cure for a serious case of the blues?
The sound of a baby laughing. Worked for my grandmother at my grandfather's burial.
And speaking of my grandmother... Did your family ever have any fishing-boat related scares like the one she experienced when her dad's boat was found floating upside down in the middle of the North Sea a week before he (and the rest of the crew) were able to phone home from the Shetlands to let everyone know they were alive?
| Monkeygod |
to be honest, i'd go with none from Chaos, since from what can gather, she has no sway over or worship from any of the three subtypes. Deception or Thievery could work equally well. Don't know if either from War would fit her. Oceans works while Ice i would pass on. and your right, Storms makes more sense than Seasons.
So, Deception, Thievery, Oceans, and Storms. with a possible one of the Sub-Domains from Chaos(doubtful) and either Blood or War.
James, do you listen to Metallica at all? and have you ever played Vampire the Masquerade? and if so, what did you think of it?
