Bouncing Spell Question

Rules Questions

Just a quick technical question. Could I prepare a Bouncing Veil in the case I wanted to cast it on only ONE target out of two, and only if one failed? I know in game this is a stupid move to prep a seventh level slot for this, but it's relevance lies in how the metamagic affects 3PP content. Below are the refs:

Bouncing Metamagic:

Benefit: Whenever a bouncing spell targeting a single creature has no effect on its intended target (whether due to spell resistance or a successful saving throw) you may, as a swift action, redirect it to target another eligible creature within range. The redirected spell behaves in all ways as if its new target were the original target for the spell. Spells that affect a target in any way (including a lesser effect from a successful saving throw) may not be redirected in this manner. A bouncing spell uses up a spell slot one level higher than the spell’s actual level.

Veil:

Target: One or more creatures, no two of which can be more than 30 ft. apart.

You instantly change the appearance of the subjects and then maintain that appearance for the spell's duration. You can make the subjects appear to be anything you wish. The subjects look, feel, and smell just like the creatures the spell makes them resemble. Affected creatures resume their normal appearances if slain. You must succeed on a Disguise check to duplicate the appearance of a specific individual. This spell gives you a +10 bonus on the check. Unwilling targets can negate the spell's effect on them by making Will saves or with spell resistance. Those who interact with the subjects can attempt Will disbelief saves to see through the glamer, but spell resistance doesn't help.

No one wants to take a stab at it? Don't know or no point answering...?

Give us more than 20 minutes before you start losing hope. :-P

From what I can tell, it seems that you could bounce that spell if you wanted to. Not sure why you would, since you could just target the two creatures that Bouncing Spell gives you the potential to target (only one swift action per round), if not more.

Wow... sorry... I just looked at the time stamp, I didn't mean to be so hasty. I'm doing proof work that tends to move slowly. Thanks for your reply.

The better example would have been if I used magic missile on a single creature and their spell resistance blocked it. It's still pretty silly though. :p

As long as it's a targeted spell and you only target one creature, you can bounce it. AoE spells or spells that target more than one thing are ineligible.

Burning Spell contains what is my opinion the most badly-written text passage in the game (and that's saying a lot in the context of a system replete with arbitrary language).

"...Spells that affect a target in any way (including a lesser effect from a successful saving throw) may not be redirected in this manner."

Is *damage* an effect or an affectation? No? Well...it doesn't SAY so; but it would IMPLY so to anyone with a rudimentary grasp of English.
