Thank you DM, I look forward to the game!

Okay, one final effort: Feldspar Flamebeard, Dwarven Fighter with the Two-Handed Weapon archetype, submitted by Wander Weir. History and appearance are below; character sheet is more or less complete aside from the final equipment list.

Thanks for considering me.

Character Background:

Feldspar's parents were deep miners, as dedicated to Droskar as any who lived under the rule of King Ordrik. He was born so far within the depths that no one even spoke of a time when dwarves lived in the World Above. His clan practiced an isolationism far great than that encouraged by Ordrik, rarely dealing with outsiders except when it came to distributing the ore.

As a young dwarf, Feldspar would often wander the deeper tunnels and caverns, investigating some of the abandoned shafts, delighting in the forgotten passageways and crevices. One day he came upon an abandoned shaft and discovered something quite unexpected. Writing and drawings on the walls that were unlike anything he’d ever seen before.

He hadn't been taught much of reading as it was of little significance for a miner. But he returned often to that passage, examining the writing and reading what he could.

It was some years before he realized the danger of the words the writer had inscribed there. Even as he the meaning gradually came clear he didn't realize just how forbidden the messages were, for the life of a miner did not encompass things such as history, politics, or religion. He'd already learned much of the ways of Torag and the history of the dwarven race, a time when dwarves passed between the upper and lower dwellings more freely than they now pass between holds.

When he finally happened to mention some of what he learned to an elder of the clan, he was chastised for such heretical thoughts. He didn't know how he managed to keep from revealing the source of the knowledge that he'd come upon, but he held onto it even at the most rigorous questions.

His previously unrevealed hopes of becoming a warrior were dismissed; a miner's life was what Feldspar had been born to and there was no point in thinking anything else. Droskar's ways were the only ways and that was the end of the subject.

It took a number of years of careful planning and preparation but eventually Feldspar found a way out, sneaking aboard a wagon loaded down with precious ore. He never knew how he'd succeeded but he credited Torag with the success and made his way into a more populated, less restrictive world.

Though he had no skills to speak of that didn't involve a hammer and chisel, the teachers he choose were patient. He learned the ways of the blade, hammer and spear. He also studied history and other arts, finding some less restrictive members of the society, even though they were largely forced to remain hidden.

He craved the grand histories of the Dwarven past, the glories that were theirs when they lived in such grand cities upon the surface. Even as he studied the waraxe and hammer, learned to bear a suit of heavy armor on his frame, he continued with the history books he'd discovered. It was through them that he learned of the ancient dwarven weapon, the Dorn Dergar, a long heavy chain with a large iron ball on the end that could be used at close quarters and at an extended reach.

With much effort he found one of the old timers who could teach him to use that and grew steadily more capable.

Then, at last, the old King Ordrik died and Bruagh was raised in his place. Feldspar was one of the first to join the march to reclaim Highhelm and brought the Dorn Dergar and dwarven axe to bear on the orcish host. Finally, the field was won and the city reclaimed.

But Feldspar knew it was just the beginning of hard times to come, great victories to be won. Having distinguished himself on the battlefield, he stood ready as King Bruagh called upon him, selected to take part in a very special quest...

Appearance:

Feldspar is a tall dwarf for his race and his clan, standing about 4'2". He is muscular with eager dark eyes and a cheerful disposition now that he has found his way above the surface at last. He is best known for his striking red hair and beard, earning the name of Flamebeard in a recent battle; a name he has taken with pride.

Also, a few errors I noticed. Someones backstory doesn't really fit, mostly because of the goblins and timeline.

I assume that is me. It can easily be changed to orcs, just felt it might be too powerful at first level.

*lurk n' bump*

You know how they say all good things must come to and end... so must this recruiting thread. And while it's bittersweet. Some of you will be able to start playing while others must go seek other PbP's: It is nonetheless time for me to pick the Dwarven Envoy in its entirety.

So without further ado I shall present you with the of of Heroic Dwarven adventurers who shall venture out of their cavernous homes for the first time in over 200 years, braving hordes of orc and other threats of an untimely demise, in an effort to recover a lost artifact for a newly crowned king. Let's hope they have what it takes, for if not... the stout folk of Five Kings Mountains will never reclaim that which is rightfully theirs.

Elyk Spangelhelm - Lawful Good Male Dwarf Cleric (Subdomain) of Torag
Thoradin Spangelhelm - Lawful Good Male Dwarf Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light) of Torag
Rhen Stoneheart - Chaotic Good Male Dwarf Inquisitor of Torag
Rahkeg Oathsword - Lawful Neutral Male Dwarf Transmuter (Enhancer) Wizard (Dwarf Pantheon)
Feldspar Flamebeard - Neutral Good Male Dwarf (Two Handed) Fighter of Torag
Durgin Shadowstone - Male Dwarf Rogue (Acroscout)

I will create a discussion thread in a few moments. Those selected should feel free to start posting. Finish linking any backstory's, iron out any last minute details, and ask any questions you have. Later tonight I will post and IC thread and get this thing underway.

The links to the threads will be posted here as they come available.

To those who were not selected. Thank you for your time and interest. Maybe we can game together next time.

And thus closes The Talking Donkey's curtain call.
