1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

its says body thief deals 8d4+3d6+8. is that based on any stats? can it up the damage with higher stats?

also is that including sneak attack damage since its a coup de grace?

"The intellect devourer has full access to all of the host's defensive and offensive abilities"

does that mean it gets to use feats of its victim? what ones? dodge? toughness?

It should go up in damage as Strength increases, or as other damage is added. Basically, that's 4 claws with double damage on each.

And yep, it gets the feats of the victim. Opponents of the ID are basically fighting a body piloted by an intellect devourer mind. Just use the stat block of the original creature, but with access to the ID's spell-like abilities (and spells, if it has class levels), and no spells or spell-like abilities of its own.

It does make sense to use the ID's skill ranks for most Int, Wis, and Cha based skills.

"save for spellcasting and spell-like abilities (although the intellect devourer can still use its own spell-like abilities)."

no sla's or spells, so I can use the feats? weapon focus, power attack, combat expertise, ect?

Indeed you can.

What happens if it takes over a rogue? Does it add its sneak attack to the rogues or just use the larger of the two die pools?

I ask because our party got wiped by Int Devourers and now our new characters are being sent in to figure out what happened. My old character was a Rogue/Shadow Dancer with 3d6 Sneak Attack. If it is being controlled it could have 3d6 or 6d6 depending on how it works. I am also curious how it would interact with the Summon Shadow (Su) ability. I kind of miss my shadow of Steve from accounting.
