Hey all,
So, the Instant Fortress says that it can't be deactivated with something inside it. We had a situation where someone cast a Greater Dispel on a Fortress, this suppressing it's magic (temporarily, obviously). Does this shrink the Fortress down to it's cube form? The DM (Me) ruled that it does. However, the owner's body was inside (He was Magic-Jarring into other people), Game was a PvP Arena fight for fun.Does this crush the body?
I ruled (After much discussion from various points of view) that he took the same damage (10D10) as if 'hit' by the Cube, but his body was expelled as the item became inert.
Also, does the Fortress have a solid floor? It says that it extends down for 10 feet, but not if it has a floor or not...Someone was asking, regarding burrowing through the bottom etc...
Regarding Deactivation/something inside: Does this mean that any little prankster can toss a pebble through one of the arrow slits, and thwart the owner from shrinking down his Fortress? Imagine a bag of marbles, it would take some time to collect all of them, and thus shrink the Fortress...
Any opinions welcome, and an Official answer from Paizo would be super keen (doubles crit threat range!).

I would expel the occupant into the closet open square and the tower would then shrink. That way you can't keep someone inside the tower to negate dispel magic, and the reasoning trying to occupy and already occupied square is enforce.
Becoming corporeal while you are inside of a wall is an example of this. I think the rules are in one of the the "ethereal" spells

I acutally interpret this the other way
that the fortress is the natural form and the cube is the magical form.
think about it, when the fortress is deploy'd it has real pysical dimensions in this plane, it's not like it using an extra dimensional space.
However through magic its reduced in size down to the size of a cube as if you used a a more powerful version of the shrink item spell on it.
Thus a greater dispel would have no effect on the deploy'd tower expect preventing it from being reduced to a cube for the duration of the dispel and allowing the door to be opened by anyone.
Also a greater dispel cast on somone holding an instant fortress in cube form would cause it to immedaitley open and force them to save vs 10d10 dmg. Which is alot easier to handle

The cost of the Fortress is only 55,000 GP. I'm pretty sure that something that size, made of Adamantine would cost a fortune, thus skewing things towards it being a Cube that grows.

Back in 3.5, A tower of the Fortress's description (made out of stone) would cost 50,000 gp.
so you could say the admantium tower becomes a plain stone tower for the duration of the effect.
it really just depends how realistic your trying to be. As long as your player's don't get cute and try to harvest the tower for admantium to sell.
consider that polymorph any object can turn an admantium cube into and admantium tower or vice versa with a permanent duration.

That's debatable. You cannot create anything of intrinsic value with Polymorph any object.
indeed it is debateable since your turning admantium into admantium so your technically not creating it ;)
put it this way its only as broken if the players metagame the effect. e.g. if they tried to sell tower.
if you want to be more realistic you could create a tower from a cube of adamantium if the admantium got streched like skin over say a stone base using this spell.
acutally now that i think about the intant tower HP arn't equivalent to a real admantium tower anyway, so saying the cube of admantium is acutall strenched into a thin walled tower with 100HP total isn't totally crazy :)
oo now there's an idea
polymorph any object a tower into a living tower :)
