Does anyone here have any desire to run a DH game? Me and a friend were hoping to get into one, so if there's an interested GM and a few other players, we'd be very eager to get into a game. :)

Wish I had time. I've been wanting to play or run Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader for some time now. Good luck.

Are you talking PBP, or face to face?

I would be willing to play in a Dark Heresy pbp but not run it.

I was thinking of PBP, aye, and that sounds good Xal, we'd just need to find a GM. :) Thanks Mearrin, hopefully you'll find time for a game later on.

Dotting.

I'd be interested in playing Dark Heresy or Rogue Trader.

With four players it looks good, we'd just need a GM to run it. ^^

I wish I had the time to do a PBP for you, as I love Dark Heresy and would like to try GMing a PBP...After the summer, I may be able to pull something together, but right now, I just don't have the free time...Sorry, guys.

would you guys work for an Ordo Xenos inquisitor?

Radavel wrote:

*Holds up sign.*

WILL SHOOT HERETICS FOR FOOD.

Dark Archive

That's good. Just so long as you don't fling another blade barrier LOL

Alright, Acolytes, please make your characters and we'll be massacring the foul xenos ASAP!

I'm never played Dark Heresey before and Warhammer only once so I'll be asking a lot questions.

Dark Heresy Character Generator

I was in a Dark Heresy game before that didn't get off the ground and was shown this sight. It can be an aid to the new gamer of Dark Heresy.

I should ask, does anyone have any preference on path or background. The same question would go for the GM is there anything that you would like for us to do when making up our characters to make it easier for you or to help with the story?

I was planing on a noble born ajudacator but that can change if everybody wants a common history.

I'd like to go for an Adept who started out life as a bean counter on an agri world ^^ I haven't been able to catch my friend yet to tell her I found a source for a game, I'll try to get her today.

Dealing with the treachous Xenos sounds perfect to me. :)

Are we going with the standard 400xp starting package?

Dark Archive

@Furau, yes standard 400XP package. You can use the options presented in the inquisitor's handbook.

Thanks. :) I've done a sheet in excel, using the Adept career from the corebook.

I've uploaded it here.

Got the file, Furau. Please input into an alias for use during gameplay.

This is my PC for a DH PBP we've been playing since last October.

if you guys have questions on DH,
please email me at inquisitor dot radavel at gmail dot com

Alrighty, alias set up. I'm new to this site, I didn't know you could do that. :)

Learning new things each day ;-)

So our players are me, David, Xal and (hopefully) my other friend?

@David. Sorry, I missed your post. I'm happy with any background for our characters meeting up, my own character would have looked for any (non heretical!) way to get off his agricultural world and see the wider galaxy.

Dark Archive

Include in your backgrounds, the story of your first meeting with your boss, Inquisitor Kalistrade of the Ordo Xenos.

As an updated background then.

Calin is one among many such worlds in the Imperium, natural factories that feed the vast holy armies of the God Emperor. Calin has several space ports and even a few ground bases for the Imperial Guard due to fairly regular attacks by Orc raiders (normally on their way to more interesting places for a fight.)

Augustus worked long, dull days in helping ensure the shipments were correct and had the right amounts in them. In other words, simple bean counting. Despite being reminded by many how important this was to the Imperium, and how the efforts of him and others on Calin helped feed vast armies and keep them safe, he longed to be out there himself, to see something more.

He managed to earn a position working logistics at a nearby Imperial base and found a satisfication in hearing about various war stories, his youthful mind hearing only the glory and vastness of the galaxy and filtering out some of the horrors, although he did learn a certain wariness of the dangers present in the galaxy.

He finally managed to worm his way into joining a company that was delivering supplies to another nearby world but the convey came under attack from Orc raiders. The attack was brutal and most of the ships were destroyed, Augustus suriving only by luck or divine favour.

He and the remaining guardsman on his ship were pinned down by swaming Orcs when reinforcements led by Inquisitor Kalistrade arrive and tore the ragtag Orc fleet to shreds. After the smoke had cleared and the survivors were gathered an adjuct of the Inquisitor told Augustus he was to serve the man now, and the Inquisition. Augustus had survived and another recent recruit had not. The Inquisitor had decided the fastest way to fill the spot was to take someone else who might have a chance of filling it and before he knew it, Augustus' trip offworld had taken a turn he'd never even imagined.

When you say ajudacator, do you mean an arbitrator? Like a Judge Dread police man?

Yep, when I first read through the DH book and saw the arbitrator 'Judge Dread' popped into my head and wanted to play one since.

To keep inline with a Judge Dread type character concept I either had to go with the hiveworld background (Megacity One) or focus on the eliteness of the Judges in general and Nobel Born gives better access to skills that a Judge would have and keep him one of the elite.

Ok, I'm thinking of an assassin character.

I'm likely going Feral world and specializing in Hand to Hand combat.

Dark Archive

@David, if you have the Inquisitor's Handbook, I suggest you take a look at the Moritat Background Package.

So far we have:

an Adept
an Arbitrator; and
an Assassin

do you notice a pattern?

I think something might be beginning to develop. From what I've seen of our backgrounds sof ar, I'm looking forward to seeing how our characters interact.

This is what I got so far (check profile).

Any suggestions about how to spend my 400xp?

How common are laser weapons?
Should I pick up both ranged and melee weapons talens?

Edit: the background was created by the character generator so I will most likely be changing it.

Las pistols, carbines and lasguns are listed as common so they should be readily available. The longlas, which is a sniper rifle, is scarce, so that would be harder to get hold of, the lascannon is rare, but you'd need a skill in heavy weapons to use it and I don't think any of us can start with that.

I'd take a look at the available options and think what might fit your character most. I do suggest you increase one of your stat ratings though, as that's usually a good bet. There are suggested xp packages in the corebook and Inquistor's handbook that might help as well.

Edit: Xal, I've just looked at the available Arbiter skills and talents for the first rank and don't have the ability to train in basic las weapons (you can still use them, but it'll be half your BS skill to use them), you can train in las pistols though. :)

What is A for $500 ? LOL

I do have the handbook and like the idea of the Moritat.

There's a deference between basic training in las pistols and training in las pistols?

No, sorry, I didn't explain it too well. To use las pistols properly you'd only need training in laser pistols (which you have access to). To use the heavier laser weapons properly though, such as las carbines and lasguns, you'd need basic weapon training for laser weapons and I don't think you have access to that at your first rank.

Ok makes sense. I'm going for a two-gunned lawman approach so it won’t become an issue right off.

Cool :)

I think...

Basic Weapon Training (Las) would allow you to use laser rifles (and such) without taking a penalty for not being familiar with them.

Is the other skill Pistol Training (Las)? This specific talent allows the usage of pistol lasers without penalty.

Pistols are considered a separate group of weapon talents from longer rifles.

Can I join too? I have a splendid idea for a psyker. Also, I'm Furaus mysterious friend :-)

This is David introducing my alias Hand the Assassin.

Character information including Background and Background for meeting the Inquisitor are contained in the Alias.

Ok I spent my xp this way;
BS: +5, 100xp
Int: +5, 100xp
Pistol Training (Las): +5, 100xp
Iquiry: +10, 100xp

The question is do I get the +5 for las pistol training?

Las Pistol training means you are proficient with the weapon hence not penalized for using the same. Your Ballistic Skill (BS) is what determines the level of your skill.

There we go, one imperial psyker at your service. Would you like the background story to be posted here, somewhere else or by pm?

The character is in the alias, I also have it on a pdf file if someone would be interested.

Dark Archive

Place your backgrounds in the profile to make them handy.

Radavel wrote:

There we go, all done. I hope I didn't write to much, I really really tried to keep it short. :-)

Dark Archive

Ok. Everyone finalize your character profiles (alias). Get all the equipment you need (within budget of course).

Can I trade in the shot gun that came with the arbitrator class for cash or equal value of equipment?

Dark Archive

sure.

Welcome to the game Marnia. :)

My sheet's updated into this profile, along with my background. I've spent Augustus' money on some armour and more bullets (6 wouldn't have really cut it ^^) I traded his stub revolver in for 40 thrones and bought a stub automatic instead.

I'm all set to go, and I'm looking forward to this. :)
