Dark Heresy Character Generator
I was in a Dark Heresy game before that didn't get off the ground and was shown this sight. It can be an aid to the new gamer of Dark Heresy.

I'd like to go for an Adept who started out life as a bean counter on an agri world ^^ I haven't been able to catch my friend yet to tell her I found a source for a game, I'll try to get her today.
Dealing with the treachous Xenos sounds perfect to me. :)
Are we going with the standard 400xp starting package?

As an updated background then.
Calin is one among many such worlds in the Imperium, natural factories that feed the vast holy armies of the God Emperor. Calin has several space ports and even a few ground bases for the Imperial Guard due to fairly regular attacks by Orc raiders (normally on their way to more interesting places for a fight.)
Augustus worked long, dull days in helping ensure the shipments were correct and had the right amounts in them. In other words, simple bean counting. Despite being reminded by many how important this was to the Imperium, and how the efforts of him and others on Calin helped feed vast armies and keep them safe, he longed to be out there himself, to see something more.
He managed to earn a position working logistics at a nearby Imperial base and found a satisfication in hearing about various war stories, his youthful mind hearing only the glory and vastness of the galaxy and filtering out some of the horrors, although he did learn a certain wariness of the dangers present in the galaxy.
He finally managed to worm his way into joining a company that was delivering supplies to another nearby world but the convey came under attack from Orc raiders. The attack was brutal and most of the ships were destroyed, Augustus suriving only by luck or divine favour.
He and the remaining guardsman on his ship were pinned down by swaming Orcs when reinforcements led by Inquisitor Kalistrade arrive and tore the ragtag Orc fleet to shreds. After the smoke had cleared and the survivors were gathered an adjuct of the Inquisitor told Augustus he was to serve the man now, and the Inquisition. Augustus had survived and another recent recruit had not. The Inquisitor had decided the fastest way to fill the spot was to take someone else who might have a chance of filling it and before he knew it, Augustus' trip offworld had taken a turn he'd never even imagined.

Yep, when I first read through the DH book and saw the arbitrator 'Judge Dread' popped into my head and wanted to play one since.
To keep inline with a Judge Dread type character concept I either had to go with the hiveworld background (Megacity One) or focus on the eliteness of the Judges in general and Nobel Born gives better access to skills that a Judge would have and keep him one of the elite.| Furau |
Las pistols, carbines and lasguns are listed as common so they should be readily available. The longlas, which is a sniper rifle, is scarce, so that would be harder to get hold of, the lascannon is rare, but you'd need a skill in heavy weapons to use it and I don't think any of us can start with that.
I'd take a look at the available options and think what might fit your character most. I do suggest you increase one of your stat ratings though, as that's usually a good bet. There are suggested xp packages in the corebook and Inquistor's handbook that might help as well.
Edit: Xal, I've just looked at the available Arbiter skills and talents for the first rank and don't have the ability to train in basic las weapons (you can still use them, but it'll be half your BS skill to use them), you can train in las pistols though. :)

There's a deference between basic training in las pistols and training in las pistols?

No, sorry, I didn't explain it too well. To use las pistols properly you'd only need training in laser pistols (which you have access to). To use the heavier laser weapons properly though, such as las carbines and lasguns, you'd need basic weapon training for laser weapons and I don't think you have access to that at your first rank.

I think...
Basic Weapon Training (Las) would allow you to use laser rifles (and such) without taking a penalty for not being familiar with them.
Is the other skill Pistol Training (Las)? This specific talent allows the usage of pistol lasers without penalty.
Pistols are considered a separate group of weapon talents from longer rifles.

Ok I spent my xp this way;
BS: +5, 100xp
Int: +5, 100xp
Pistol Training (Las): +5, 100xp
Iquiry: +10, 100xpThe question is do I get the +5 for las pistol training?
Las Pistol training means you are proficient with the weapon hence not penalized for using the same. Your Ballistic Skill (BS) is what determines the level of your skill.

Welcome to the game Marnia. :)
My sheet's updated into this profile, along with my background. I've spent Augustus' money on some armour and more bullets (6 wouldn't have really cut it ^^) I traded his stub revolver in for 40 thrones and bought a stub automatic instead.
I'm all set to go, and I'm looking forward to this. :)
