Really quick -- Long ago (in a galaxy far far away...) I created a generator to aid in random magic item generation. I also created a pretty good magic spell random generator (for scrolls or magic books, etc.) and a "mundane" item generator for items that can be considered as "artwork" and for random gemstones. All of these are in Excel so it's pretty easy to copy and past them into most applications. They were pretty much made for 3.X games, but it should be pretty easy to convert for most gaming applications (but I haven't looked that much at 4e to know how it would work with that).
It's been a while since I've updated them, but they have most 3.X stuff. Let me know if you would like them.
