And I quote from the same website:

When we heard about Wicked Lasers' Spyder III Pro Arctic laser, an ultra powerful portable laser with a lightsaberesque design selling for only $200, it almost seemed too good to be true. Turns out it might have been.

Since we first posted about the Spyder III in June, we've received a steady stream of complaints from customers who say that they haven't received any word about their shipment, though their credit cards were charged days after their initial order. Emails and calls to Wicked Lasers, the company that's selling the Spyder III, have in many cases gone completely unreturned.

We contacted Wicked Lasers about these complaints last month, and they assured us that demand had far exceeded their expectations, and they were hustling to fill all the orders and respond to all the inquiries. Still, we've received complaints after this assurance from the company, so it's clear that people are still being given the cold (arctic?) shoulder.

Here at Giz, we received our Spyder III a few weeks ago, though immediately it was apparent that it didn't function the way we expected it to, or, judging by some YouTube clips that show the Spyder III scorching through a variety of materials, they way it should function. It was definitely powerful, don't get us wrong—shining it on your arm stung like hell more or less instantly—but it's not like it seared your skin. Other, less unscientific tests were similarly disappointing. We've tried to get in touch with Wicked Lasers several times to figure out what's up with our laser, but they haven't yet responded.

While the verdict is still out on Wicked Lasers' Spyder III—the lightsaber laser that provoked Lucasfilms to issue, and then withdraw, a cease and desist letter—what's certain is that there are a lot of customers who are feeling burned, and not in the way they might've hoped.

So if you're thinking about buying the world's most powerful portable laser, you probably will want to wait until all of this gets sorted out. And until we get our review unit issues squared away to see if it is, indeed, as powerful as Wicked Lasers claims it is. And if you have any experience with purchasing the Spyder III, please feel free to share in the comments.

Damn it's too good to be true. Oh well not that I had the cash for it anyway.

He probably just bought it off Ebay and is now fighting in a tournament of assassins in a desperate attempt to have sex oh wait I'm thinking of something completely different. Still, I'm still assuming he got it from Ebay. Maybe Craigslist, you can find anything in those two places.
There have got to be easier ways available to him to just have sex.

Have you seen his apartment? (Which is to say his hotel room.)

Hopefully it will be a bit less intense. An alternate magic system is a lot less of a 'hot topic' than a 'sword-mage' base class.

You think this playtest won't end up in a bunch of dumb, obsessive arguing. *laughter*

(Also, the only reason I haven't even tried to read about how the playtest is going is because if someone says they're just stealing the concept from the swordmage in 4e and are thus the devil my head is going to explode.)

I wouldn't go so far as to say it was taken straight from 4e's swordmage. If anything the difference in mechanics insures that there are some deviations.

But there are some similar traits, certainly.

The class "okay" but I am not really into magic-using swordsman trope so I am not overjoyed or underwhelmed by it. Thus I don't have much to add.

I am kind of looking forward to the magic system, as I tend to play magic-users on the rare occasions I get to sit on the other side of the screen.

By the way, I can understand wanting to avoid the discussion due to the environment. I know where you are coming from there.

Oh, I'm fine with any similarities to 4e's swordmage. There kind of has to be, since it's the same concept. I just hate the whole "EVERYTHING 4E TOUCHES TURNS TO S$%^" sort of thing that pops up every once in a while.

Those are bad days.

Good days are when you actually find one of those rusty nail-bats and let everyone know it.

I hate updating my resume. Reminds me how much of a complete failure I am, especially when it ends up shorter than when it started.

Tomorrow, I'm off to my local comic book shop. I got a sweet discount on the next booster set and fat pack for Magic the Gathering. Is it wrong to have an addiction to a card game?

What you need to do is get a recruiter to take a look at it. Most recruiters work for free, getting a commission from the company that hires you. And the recruiters I've been working with have been able to give me tips on my resume that increased it from two to five pages.

It doesn't bother me much. Personally, I like it when game designers pull from various sources to inspire their designs.

The similarities aren't massive really. But then, I was never impressed with the swordmage implementation. That has nothing to do with 4e specifically, just the actual class.

I felt much the same way about the Jedi class in SAGA edition. The class is analogous in many ways to the Swordmage concept, but to pull off that they neglected the classic Jedi skills of persuasion and blending in. What you end up with is a class that hits people over the head before blasting them, which is cool but not very useful if you actually want to RP a Jedi.

I'm seeing a pattern here. Not good.

This stuff I really don't get. How are colleges charging this kinda coin? My wife went to a Cordon Bleu program for one year, and came out of it with $60,000+ in debt. That's $512 a freakin month for 10 years. She got one of the best local jobs at one of the top restaurants and was the envy of her peers. The pay rate? $10/hr. And found out you'd have to work at that level, busting your ass for about ten years before ever getting a chance for a higher-level job.

I wonder if there's going to be an 'education bubble' like there was a mortgage bubble ...

This is the part that my woman is NOT getting every time she pushes me to go for an education while I'm still unemployed. Yeah. I need more debt. :S

Yeah I had some thoughts I wanted to post on again. Not that any of my suggestions seem to have much merit but it is nice to put them out there anyway.

It has been some time since I have had a creative outlet. Little gaming getting done right now. ideas start but never seem to continue due to scheduling conflicts or home life issues.

As well as the fact I really do not feel like spamming this thread with random thoughts. Let alone half thought out random thoughts. I can't imagine what it would be like to blog. I started one once and yeah, maybe posted 5 times. It was sad.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with that class as well. But then, I really did enjoy the revised core rulebook version of the Star Wars RPG, so I know I am pretty biased.
