How far can you Drag?

So looking at the dragging rules I don't see anything that says how far you can drag an item on your turn. Under the carry rules it says you may only move five feet with a very heavy object.

Does this mean you can drag something your full speed? It seems peculiar that a horse could drag 6,900lbs 120ft in 6 seconds.

I ask because my party is currently in this situation. Underwater Frog Battle (G) being an unconscious ranger (O) being a cavalier who is tied to his horse.

I need to know how far the cavalier's mount can pull him and the ranger in one round.

If the weight of the dragged material is enough to push the creature into the "heavy load" category, then they move as if carrying a heavy load.

What about dragging something over the course of the day? How does dragging heavy weight wear someone down. We've had plenty of times where people wanted to just trudge along, at slow speed for eight hours, seemingly without any other ill effect other than the slow speed.

Ok, so I'm thinking the two PC's would be less than the horses light capacity, which I gather to mean it would be able to pull them it's full move speed. Essentially getting them out of the hot spring to safety in one turn.
