Free RPG Day 2010

Dark Archive

Just got back from my anual trip to pick up the stuffs from my F(not so)LGS.... Some great stuff this time.

The staff at the FLGS even put up with the 4yr old re-arranging the paints in the stand so that they were not fallen over, while they looked for a mini for my PFS character. I can really recommend Fan Boy 3 in Manchester,UK any time.

Enough though! The good stuff. Paizo's module is, as usual, incredible. Hats off to Rob!

An interesting thing for all GMs though. If you ever plan to have a Roman Gladiator style areana in a game. Pick up the 4th Ed module. Full poster map included, and it's *huge*, probably the same size as, or a bit bigger than a Gamesmastery flip mat.

About to head out to Lubbock and have some fun myself :)

Yay free stuff!

Out of curiosity, is Paizo's Free RPG Day downloadable anywhere here? The closest store that's participating in the giveaway is over an hour from my house, so I couldn't pick anything up. *sadness*

The module SHOULD be a free download sometime next week. The print copy is $5.

Here is some more information on the module.

Anytime. I am glad that I could be of assistance.

As for the last two Free RPG Day handouts, here they are.

Hollow's Last Hope

and

Revenge of the Kobold King..

If you do want to run Revenge of the Kobold King, I suggest getting Crown of the Kobold King as well. However, Crown of the Kobold King is not a free download. But it should still be worth buying it.

All of these modules are 3.5 edition, but it should not be too hard to convert them to the Pathfinder RPG rules.

Edit - ~GRINS~ Of course, it helps that I have almost all the products that Paizo has put out, so I should be able to answer any questions about the modules or other stuff that I own.

Well hit Ravenstone, picked up Masters of the Fallen Fortress and then spent about $60 on other gaming stuff, got the pre-fab dice tower as a result.

Oh, and Sharoth? That Ptolus map is $30.00

Also met some other gamers, but they were 4x players (nothing wrong with that, just couldn't lure them to the Paizo side of the force.)

The Exchange

Anyone have any links to other free PDFs that were for Free RPG Day? It seemed a bit low-key this year, where last year and the year before appeared to kick but online.

Had a blast going up and spending time with my friends. Love the module!

The only bad part about was that the store owner hates Paizo with a fiery passion. Asked if he had any Pathfinder or Gamemastery merch in stock and thought he was going to behead me on the spot! Luckly I only got a five lecture.

What was the guy's beef? The Paizo golem steal his girlfriend? Pathfinder scooped his plan to publish the next great D20 game? Hasbro executives injected him with experimental nannites, converting him into a brainwashed cyborg?

He believes that Paizo is driving store owners out of buiness and making it to where owners can no longer compete in the market. He also went on about the quality of the products and lack of imagination.

But had lots of great things to say about WotC.

It's all just part of the cosmic balance. One of our FLGSs feels the exact opposite way, bemoaning WOTC's DDI for reducing sales. Somewhere, there had to be a guy who held the converse opinion...

Quality of products? Lack of imagination!?!? I'm sorry but it sounds

like this guy has a serious bias and agenda because quality is one area where no one with ANY knowlege can fault Paizo.

Wow, that kind of stuff just really bothers me ...

Thank you, Lone Star Plano!

Lone Star Dallas, I expect better from you next year.

Xmaxx games, why aren't you with it?

Scarab Sages

me and a coulpe friends actually spent the day a played games. the 4ed encounter was fun, and the pathfinder was fun, excpet noone wanted to run it. and someone brought an old call of chtulu adventure. played that for like 3 hours, after someone died in the first fight, spent the rest of the time scared, but awesome fun. ran part of the l5r mod for my group tonight, which was great.

The two you linked were our Free RPG Day products in 2007 and 2008—for 2009, we released the Pathfinder RPG Bonus Bestiary.

And now Master of the Fallen Fortress (PFRPG) is up for 2010.

R.

As always, THANK YOU PAIZO, for participating.

I stopped by Game Kastle in Santa Clara about 20 minutes after they opened, they had a table up front which had all the items with a request you take no more than one of each item. I picked up the Dark Sun adventure, the WH40K adventure, the Paizo adventure and the Exalted item. Also picked up the latest No Quarter magazine at the front and settled a preorder for the 8th edition WFB rules.

I next headed up to Gator Games in San Mateo, hoping to snag the Castles and Crusades item and/or the Harn adventure. Unfortunately they didn't have the Harn book and the C&C item was marked as a store copy only. Gator Games had a bunch of other stuff out as well, I saw the Paizo freebies from years past there, so I picked up some older items including some 3.5E templates that I think were part of the Living campaigns back in 3.0/3.5. While I was there they were having a 20% off sale and I was happy to get the WFB Empire greatswords that are normally way too expensive, and a copy of the Iron Kingdoms campaign guide hardcover...had no idea they still had a copy.

Wanted to head to Endgame in Oakland like I usually do but odds were the Harn and C&C items wouldn't be there either, and I had a tight schedule Saturday so I headed home.

Huh. Here, I've always heard "one item per customer."

~chuckles~ Fine! Be that way, Vic. Go and one up me and prove that I was incorrect on my information that I gave out.

Game Kastle was one of each. Gator Games was any two, and they had plenty of old giveaways included. Both were holding a raffle for the dice tower.

I'm sadly coming to the conclusion that this isn't the friendliest area for RPGers. At least there's a lot more places that are worse.

And I'm unfortunate enough to live in one of those places. My closest Game Daze went out of business a year ago. RIP FLGS.
