So I was running an AP and decided to slightly modify an encounter to have a true lycanthrope rather than an afflicted lycanthrope. One of my players botched the save for curse of lycanthropy, and now I'm wondering how this will affect his character. I remember in 3.5 once a PC became aware of the condition and deliberately switched from human to one of the forms, they automatically took on the alignment of the base form of lycanthrope (ie.-werewolf CE, werebear LG, etc.). Is this still the same, or has been removed?
EDIT: I modified it anticipating he would become afflicted, but didn't really think far enough ahead to all the questions I'm asking.

I can't find anything about alignment on the Lycanthrope Page of the PRD except the alignment given to the two lycans given as examples.
Personally, I find the whole AL for afflicted lycans ridiculous. If you're not in control, you're little more than a feral animal, and animals don't have alignment(okay, neatral, but it's not like they get a choice to hunt you down or not if they're hungry and you look weak).

IIRC, an afflicted character can become aware of his/her condition with a DC 20 will check and from that point forward they are able to consciously control their transformations with appropriate checks.
Don't forget, if the PC is trying to play their 'new' character, they can take ranks in Control Shape (I think that was it's name) and use that skill to deal with controlling their 'curse'. I think that's how the old 3.5 Lycanthopes handled things.
.... great, now I miss my Wererat .... *sighs*.

Not sure what the rules say about this but my solution was:
1. If the PC found out about her affliction and wanted to resist the Alignment issue she made a Will Save to combat the switch. At the time, it was a DC 20 Will. Now, at 7th level, that is a stout roll. It made for a great RP hook with the rest of the group stacking Buffs on her so she could control it. And by controlling it, keep her alignment.
2. I had them head to an Alchemist type NPC who made her a concoction that allowed her to resist the change altogether. This made for many an adventure to acquire the ingredients for the Alchemist.
3. It also was a great city adventure when they came into town and all of a sudden a string of murders happened and the PC kept finding little 'knick knacks' in her room the night after. Then, the rest of the group trying, simultaneously, to stop her from killing AND get her out of the town! One of the best city runs we've had!
Hope some of this helped
Have Fun out there!!
