Radical Cleric's Call to Kill Americans May Inspire Attacks

Awlaki is the American-born cleric residing in Yemen who has been tied to the Fort Hood shooting last fall, the Christmas Day jet bombing attempt and the attempted Times Square car bombing in May.

Since he is American born, does this mean he is an American citizen. If so, if he were arrested he would be Mirandized. That seems wrong.

We remind Americans of their rights when we arrest them even if they are unlawful combatants.

The only real way to oppose irrational hate is with measured and thoughtful justice. When we fall to the same level and tactics as terrorists, extremists and those that manipulate them, we have already lost.

good point

We must be better than our enemies.

Aw man, I thought this was gonna be a thread about Achmed the Dead Terrorist. He's a puppet.

In theory I can agree however sometimes expediance is the way to go. While it's all well and fine to say we must be better than the enemy and we would "never" resort to their barbaric tactics I think fighting fire with fire is more efficent. Yes I realise it can lead to a schorched earth policy but we adapt and rebuild.

Yes, because previously, the radicals weren't attacking Americans.

(In case it needs be said, yes, that's sarcasm you smell.)

I disagree with this because it hinges too much on the idea of "It's okay when we do it".

Would have been a better thread if it was.

I propose a thoroughly appropriate and necessary derail. Who's with me?

That's OK...he probably won't get a chance to be mirandized. According to Jon Stewart (the most trusted name in news), Obama has spec-ops and intel agencies on orders to assassinate him, regardless of whether he is in a combat zone or not.
