Monks and Mage Armor

Do Mage Armor and Bracers of Armor cause a monk to lose his wisdom/AC bonus?

No. Only wearing armour, not items that otherwise provide an armour bonus (like the items mentioned above).

i dont understand why mage armor stacks with the monks ac bonus. It provides an armor bonus to ac. What kind of bonus is the monks wisdom/ level bonus?

The wisdom bonus is a wisdom bonus, while the level bonus is untyped.

i understand its a wisdom bonus, but what type of armor bonus is it? armor, shield, dex, dodge, deflection, luck, insight....as it stands now theres no sure way to know what it stacks with. so if players made +5 clothing wouldnt it stack with that as well?

Armor bonus is a different term then armor. Monks can't wear armor effectively, but they can get benefit from an armor bonus.

The bonus from mage armor (+4 armor bonus) would be over ridden by the +5 armor bonus from the clothing.

Actually, you answered your own question. Bonuses in the game usually have a descriptive term (aka "adjective") in front of their names. The monk's Wisdom bonus to AC is a "wisdom" bonus. Dodge bonuses stack; that's in the rules. A few other bonuses can stack. There's no exception listed for the monk's Wisdom bonus, so it stacks with everything except if he gains another Wisdom bonus to AC from another source; even then it might stack if specifically mentioned in the other ability's description. So a monk can have an armor bonus (mage armor spell), his untyped bonus, his Wisdom bonus, his Dexterity bonus, a dodge bonus (the feat), and so on...and they all stack.

It's a wisdom bonus to AC. Not an armor bonus or a shield bonus or an insight bonus, but a wisdom bonus.

Both the wisdom bonus and the untyped level bonus will typically stack with all other forms of AC bonuses (except other wisdom bonuses, or other class features that say the work like the Monk's AC bonuses).

Yes, it would stack with +5 clothing.
